Appearance

Zenon Zogratis is a tall man with messy black hair. His most notable feature is a black, cross-shaped mark that extends from the left side of his forehead down across his left eye.

He typically wears a black shirt with a high collar, black pants tucked into brown boots, and a dark blue fur coat with a light gray fur mantle, emblazoned with a spade symbol on the back. When using his devil’s power, the mantle darkens.

At 55% of his devil’s power, Zenon sprouts slightly curved horns from his head, bat-like wings from his back, and the marking on his face expands. A dark magic covers over half of his body, including his left horn and wing.

At 100% power, Zenon’s entire body is covered in black. Bone Magic forms armor over his chest, resembling a ribcage, and bone appendages grow from his back. His arms, legs, and shoulders are covered in bone armor, and a helmet-like bone structure covers half his face and left horn. His cross-shaped mark expands, smaller horns appear on his forehead, and he grows a whip-like tail with a trident-shaped tip.

A key antagonist in Black Clover, Zenon is a member of the Dark Triad and wields the formidable Bone Magic, allowing him to manipulate bones and use them in battle. His cold demeanor and strategic mind make him a significant threat to Asta and his friends.

Personality

Zenon Zogratis is a merciless and cold individual, preferring to resolve conflicts through his overwhelming magic power rather than words. He believes that emotions and determination are meaningless compared to absolute power and sees such weaknesses as things to be discarded.

Zenon is deeply loyal to the Spade Kingdom and is highly meticulous in his mission to strengthen its military. His desire for power leads him to invade the Clover Kingdom and attack the Golden Dawn base to capture an Arcane Stage mage for his kingdom’s war efforts. Beneath his cold exterior, Zenon harbors a bloodthirsty side, as he coldly insults his defeated enemies and belittles his own subordinates after their failures.

Unlike his fellow Dark Triad members, Dante and Vanica, Zenon does not revel in cruelty for its own sake. While Dante flaunts his power arrogantly and Vanica enjoys prolonged battles, Zenon is more pragmatic, eliminating threats quickly and efficiently, as seen when he attempts to kill Yuno and Asta. His ultimate goal in using the Tree of Qliphoth is to “save” humanity by restarting it, giving everyone undying bodies in the process. He believes that his actions will secure the Spade Kingdom’s power and ensure humanity’s survival.

Zenon’s motivations are deeply rooted in a tragic event from his youth. He once shared a close bond with Allen Fiarain, a friend and rival with whom he aspired to become commander-in-chief of the Mage Defense Force. However, when they encountered a devil in a dungeon, Zenon decided that the risk was too great and killed both Allen and the devil. This moment left Zenon heartbroken, leading him to believe that emotions and determination are meaningless without the power to achieve one’s goals.

Despite this, Allen’s memory continues to drive Zenon. He accepts a devil’s heart in hopes that Allen’s death would not be in vain. In his final moments, after being defeated by Yuno, Zenon reflects on his friendship with Allen and appears to regret the decision that led to his friend’s death.

Battle Powers

Bone Magic

Zenon wieldsBone Magic, which allows him to generate and manipulate his own bones. He commonly uses this magic to release massive tangles of bones that leave no openings for enemies to evade, while the sharp, spear-like bones can brutally skewer opponents. His bones have enhanced regenerative abilities, allowing him to repair them faster than they can be destroyed, making his defenses extremely durable.

Zenon can also shape his bones into weapons, such as a sword, for close combat. Upon unleashing 100% of his devil’s power, Zenon upgrades his bone attacks to swift and powerful bone whips, which possess even greater attack power and faster regeneration.

In his transformed state, Zenon reveals the full extent of his power as a member of the Dark Triad. Enhanced by his devil, Beelzebub, he gains access to terrifying abilities, including heightened physical strength and the manipulation of bone, making him a formidable adversary in the battle against the Magic Knights.

Devil-Possessed

As a member of the Dark Triad, Zenon is the host of Beelzebub, one of the highest-ranking devils, who grants him immense power. Even as a child, Zenon was recognized to have a greater aptitude for devil power than Dante or Vanica. He can initially access up to 80% of Beelzebub’s power, and after the first gate to the underworld opens, Zenon gains access to 100%. The more power he draws, the more devil-like his appearance becomes. At 55%, Zenon easily defeats the spirit-assimilated vice-captain of Golden Dawn, Yuno Grinberryall, but after Yuno undergoes intense training, he is able to overpower Zenon at 80% devil power. However, at 100%, Zenon regains the upper hand.

Immense Magic Power

As a devil host, Zenon possesses immense magic power. With little effort, he can defeat powerful enemies, such as an entire Diamond Kingdom army, including two of the Eight Shining Generals, and William Vangeance, a Magic Knight captain. His overwhelming power strikes fear into usually fearless individuals like Luck Voltia and Sylph, the spirit of wind.

Dual Mana Attribute

As a devil host, Zenon has access to two mana attributes: his own Bone Magic and Beelzebub’s Spatial Magic, allowing him to combine both for even more devastating attacks.
