Yūto Sakurai (桜井 優人, Sakurai Yūto) is a supporting character in My Senpai is Annoying. He is the younger brother of Tōko Sakurai and is known for his timid and reserved personality. Using his high school enrollment as an opportunity, Yūto decides to move to his sister’s town, where he begins to navigate his new environment while staying close to Tōko.
Appearance

Tōko Sakurai and Yūto Sakurai together
Yūto Sakurai is a young high school student with short blond hair and black eyes. Aside from his hair color, his facial features closely resemble those of his older sister, Tōko Sakurai, giving them a noticeable sibling resemblance.
He typically wears a standard gakuran school uniform, a traditional black button-up jacket with a standing collar, paired with matching trousers. Additionally, he is often seen with a multicolored scarf wrapped around his neck, adding a distinctive touch to his otherwise conventional attire.
Plot
While searching for his sister Tōko Sakurai, Yūto Sakurai becomes lost in the city. Fortunately, Futaba Igarashi and Natsumi Kurobe spot him and decide to help him with directions. Despite their assistance, Yūto still faces trouble the next day when he is robbed by two individuals. However, before the situation escalates, Harumi Takeda intervenes, swiftly defeating the robbers and helping Yūto recover his belongings. When Futaba arrives, Yūto formally introduces himself and explains that he is Tōko Sakurai’s younger brother, allowing them to make the connection between him and his popular older sister.
Later, Yūto, Tōko, and Igarashi spend time together, during which Yūto thanks Igarashi for assisting him earlier and expresses his desire to properly thank the other woman who helped him. At that moment, Kurobe appears and immediately begins teasing Yūto, playfully rubbing his face and causing him to blush deeply in embarrassment.
Personality
Yūto Sakurai is a timid and easily frightened individual who often gets lost and tends to worry over small things. His reserved nature makes him somewhat shy, especially in unfamiliar situations. Despite his nervous tendencies, he has a strong admiration and affection for his older sister, Tōko Sakurai, to the point that he chose his high school enrollment as an opportunity to move to her town and stay close to her.
Over time, it becomes evident that Yūto has developed a strong crush on Natsumi Kurobe, a woman in her twenties. His feelings for her are often highlighted through his flustered reactions whenever she teases him, causing him to blush uncontrollably in her presence. Though Yūto remains shy, his interactions with Kurobe gradually reveal a more earnest and affectionate side to his character.
Relationships
Tōko Sakurai
His older sister and guardian figure, whom he both admires and depends on. Tōko enjoys teasing him but is ultimately very protective of him.
New High School Friends
Though he initially struggles with making friends, he gradually develops bonds with classmates, helping him open up and gain confidence.
Tōko’s Coworkers
He sometimes interacts with Tōko’s office friends, often feeling a bit overwhelmed by their outgoing personalities.
Etymology
The name Yūto (優人) is composed of the kanji “excellence, superiority, gentleness” (優, yū) and “person” (人, to), which can be interpreted as “gentle and superior person.” This reflects his reserved yet kind nature.
His surname, Sakurai (桜井), consists of “cherry blossom” (桜, sakura) and “well, mine shaft, pit” (井, i), meaning “cherry blossom well” or “spring of cherry blossoms.” Like his sister Tōko Sakurai, his name carries a floral theme, possibly symbolizing warmth and elegance.
