Yuri Honjo

Yuri Honjo (本城遊理, Honjō Yuri) stands at the heart of High-Rise Invasion as a fierce and determined protagonist. Thrust into a brutal world of skyscrapers and masked killers, Yuri must navigate her way through deadly encounters with courage and quick thinking. She shares a powerful bond with her older brother, Rika Honjo, who is also trapped in this sinister realm. As she battles to survive, Yuri uncovers a strange, unexplained connection to the enigmatic Sniper Mask, adding a layer of mystery to her already high-stakes journey.

I won’t give up. I’ll survive this nightmare and protect the people I care about!
— Yuri Honjo

Appearance

Yuri is a teenage girl with long, dark-blue hair that falls to her lower back, styled with bangs swept to the left. She has striking brown eyes and a curvaceous figure, which adds to her distinctive look.

She typically wears her school uniform, which Sniper Mask often likens to a naval uniform. Alongside this, she dons a pair of olive boots she acquired from Mayuko Nise, taken from a fallen individual. Later in the series, the right side of her skirt becomes torn, adding a rugged, battle-worn look to her outfit.

Personality

Yuri is a kind-hearted, polite, and upbeat girl, whose warmth and sweetness leave a lasting impression on those around her. Despite her gentle demeanor, she reveals herself to be remarkably strong, independent, and quick-witted. Yuri adapts swiftly to her environment, making strategic decisions based on her surroundings, and her powers grant her impressive physical strength. However, it’s her mental resilience that truly defines her character, enabling her to face brutal challenges with courage and unwavering determination.

Abilities

Faceless Mask
After donning the Faceless Mask, Yuri becomes a God Candidate, granting her a range of powers, including Self-Enhancement, Mask Manipulation, and more, elevating her abilities to confront powerful foes.

Ability to Cross the Boundary
With this rare ability, Yuri can move between realms, making her undetectable to enemies. She can perform feats like firing bullets through dimensional rifts to strike Guardian Angels. In her final battle with the Administrator, Yuri uses this power to overpower him, ultimately taking his place.

Ability to Manipulate Masks
Yuri gains control over the Great Angel’s mask, which she later uses to protect herself in critical situations.

Potential Ability to Manipulate Guardian Angels
After obtaining a God’s Code, Yuri is believed to have the potential to control Guardian Angels, though this ability remains unconfirmed.

Relationships

Rika Honjo
Yuri holds a deep admiration for her brother, often recalling his advice to help her survive in the High-Rise Realm. She considers him “cool” and even shares his name’s meaning with her friend, Mayuko Nise, seemingly unaware of its embarrassing implications. Despite learning they are half-siblings, Yuri remains determined to reunite with him, worrying over his brainwashing by Mamoru Aikawa and his eventual fate at the hands of Juo.

Mayuko Nise
Yuri’s first encounter with Nise occurs in the Helicopter building, where she witnesses Nise ruthlessly killing others. Despite this, Yuri saves Nise from Sniper Mask, prompting Nise to offer her friendship. From then on, Nise becomes a loyal protector and close friend to Yuri, standing by her side through numerous battles against Angels, Guardian Angels, the Administrator, and Aikawa. Their bond grows deep through shared challenges, and at one point, Yuri kisses Nise, though the location of the kiss remains ambiguous. This gesture leaves Yuri’s feelings open to interpretation, as she shows no clear romantic interest in any male character, including her brother Rika and Sniper Mask, whom she merely notes is attractive.

Sniper Mask
Initially, Sniper Mask tries to kill Yuri under the control of his mask. However, when his mask cracks, he regains some autonomy and quickly becomes targeted by other Angels as an “error.” Yuri and Sniper Mask eventually reconcile, and he joins her team, becoming a trusted ally in their operations. She respects and relies on him almost as much as she does her brother, Rika.
