Yoriko Fukase

Yoriko Fukase (深瀬 依子, Fukase Yoriko) is one of the two tritagonists, alongside Kinako, in Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu (A Whisker Away). She is Miyo Sasaki’s best friend and classmate, often acting as a voice of reason and support throughout the film. Appearance in Anime

During her elementary school years, Yoriko Fukase was a sensitive and reserved child who often became the target of bullying by other girls. One significant incident occurred when a group of classmates cornered her after school. Miyo Sasaki intervened by boldly throwing her shoes at the bullies, effectively rescuing Yoriko. This act of kindness marked the beginning of their strong friendship, with Yoriko remaining deeply grateful to Miyo ever since.

In her early years, Yoriko had a slightly studious and introverted personality, often wearing glasses, which contributed to her ‘nerdy’ appearance. Over time, she grew more confident, but she retained her thoughtful and caring nature, particularly in her role as Miyo’s closest friend and emotional support.

Relationships

Miyo Sasaki
Yoriko and Miyo have been close friends since elementary school. Yoriko often acts as Miyo’s confidant and support system, helping her navigate emotional struggles. The two regularly walk to school together and share lunch on the rooftop. Yoriko also tries to rein in Miyo’s over-the-top behavior, especially when she acts overly childish or obsessed with Kento Hinode.

Kento Hinode
Yoriko and Kento are classmates who frequently spend time together, especially since Miyo often drags her along during their interactions. They occasionally have lunch together on the school rooftop during break time. While she does not interact with Kento as closely as Miyo does, she acknowledges Miyo’s feelings for him.

Masamichi Isami
Yoriko and Masamichi Isami’s relationship remains somewhat ambiguous throughout the film. While their interactions are minimal, a post-credit scene suggests that they may have mutual romantic feelings for each other.
