His publisher assumed he was a woman due to the emotional depth of his stories and art, leading to his continued use of the feminine pen name.

Despite his fame in the manga world, Nozaki keeps his professional life mostly private. Even his classmates are unaware of his job until Chiyo Sakura confesses her feelings—only for Nozaki to misinterpret it as admiration for his manga. He then recruits her as an assistant. Nozaki lives with his family and is the older brother of Mayu Nozaki and Yumeko Nozaki.

Nozaki is an exceptionally tall and broad-shouldered teenager with short, messy dark brown hair and narrow eyes, often giving him a perpetually serious expression.
