Twelve’s naturally high adaptability and quick reflexes made him one of the most physically capable subjects. However, despite his ability to endure, he witnessed many of his fellow children die from the experiments, leaving him with deep-seated trauma masked by his seemingly carefree personality.

Alongside Nine, he escaped the Settlement, faking their deaths to flee from the facility. Their plan took form in the creation of Sphinx, a terrorist group meant to uncover the truth about Project Athena and expose the government’s crimes.

Twelve is a slim and athletic young man with messy platinum blonde hair and bright golden eyes, a stark contrast to Nine’s dark hair and cold gray eyes. His boyish and mischievous demeanor gives him a disarming appearance, often making him seem more like an ordinary high school student rather than a skilled terrorist.

Twelve is playful, mischievous, and incredibly perceptive. He often teases others, particularly Nine, and has a charismatic, almost childlike energy that makes him instantly likable. However, despite his cheerful attitude, Twelve is not naïve he is highly intelligent, observant, and dangerously skilled in combat, driving, and deception.

Beneath his lighthearted exterior, Twelve hides deep emotional wounds from his past. While Nine buries his trauma under cold logic, Twelve masks his pain with humor and playfulness. He is deeply loyal to Nine, but he also has a strong sense of empathy, which causes internal conflict when he begins to form a bond with Lisa Mishima.

In several instances, Twelve uses his charm and wit to manipulate situations, such as evading law enforcement, hacking security systems, and misleading authorities. • Relationship with Lisa Mishima
  Twelve’s encounter with Lisa Mishima changes the course of his story. Lisa is a bullied and emotionally fragile girl, and while Nine wants nothing to do with her, Twelve immediately empathizes with her loneliness. He saves Lisa from attempting suicide, and despite the risks, he brings her into their hideout. Over time, he develops feelings for her, struggling between his loyalty to Nine and his desire to protect Lisa. His connection to Lisa marks the first time he acts on personal emotion rather than the mission, leading to tensions with Nine.

• Conflict with Five
  When Five, another survivor of the Settlement, enters the picture, she forces Twelve into a dangerous position. Unlike Nine, who is determined to outmatch Five intellectually, Twelve is psychologically affected by her presence, as she represents the horrors of their past. During one of Five’s dangerous cat-and-mouse games, she manipulates Twelve by forcing him to choose between Nine and Lisa. Fearing for Lisa’s life, Twelve betrays Nine, revealing his location to Five in exchange for Lisa’s safety. This fractures his bond with Nine, leading to one of the most emotionally charged moments in the series.

• Tragic Resolution
  As the series reaches its climax, Twelve attempts to reconcile with Nine, knowing that their mission is nearing its end. He fights alongside Nine to expose the truth about Project Athena, despite knowing that their time is running out. However, in a tragic turn of events, Twelve is suddenly shot and killed by U.S. government forces just moments after the truth is revealed. His death is abrupt and senseless, symbolizing how innocent victims of corruption and war are often discarded without a second thought. His final moments are spent smiling at Lisa, accepting his fate with the same warmth he always carried.
