Tsukuyo Inaba (因幡 月夜, Inaba Tsukuyo) is one of the members of the Supreme Five Swords (Tenka Goken) in the anime and manga series Armed Girl’s Machiavellism. Despite her youthful appearance, Tsukuyo is recognized as one of the most technically skilled swordswomen at the Private Aichi Symbiosis Academy.
Personality

Appearance in Anime
Tsukuyo Inaba is portrayed as quiet, serious, and pragmatic, often serving as the most level-headed member of the Supreme Five Swords. She frequently provides detailed explanations and expects others to listen attentively, becoming irritated when her words are ignored or dismissed.
Her interactions with Fudou Nomura bring out sides of her personality rarely seen by others. Around him, she displays genuine emotion, even raising her voice something that surprises both herself and those around her. Beneath her disciplined exterior, Tsukuyo shows signs of loneliness and a desire for connection, as revealed when she directly asked Nomura if they could be considered friends.
Although cautious of Nomura’s unpredictable nature, she acknowledges his sincerity when he repeatedly saves her, leading her to reconsider her view of him. Tsukuyo is also prone to moments of confusion and vulnerability, contrasting with her otherwise composed and methodical character.
Appearance
Tsukuyo Inaba is depicted as a strikingly beautiful girl with very pale skin and long white–silver hair, which she ties into pigtails. Her most distinctive feature is her pair of dark red, pupil-less eyes, which contribute to her ethereal and mysterious presence.
She typically wears the traditional attire of a miko (shrine maiden), reflecting both her disciplined background and her composed personality. Due to her blindness, Tsukuyo relies on her acute sense of hearing to perceive her surroundings. This heightened ability allows her to detect movements with great accuracy, even at considerable distances. However, her inability to distinguish between real and false weapons highlights the limitations of her condition.
Background
Tsukuyo Inaba is regarded as a prodigy, having advanced through her studies early and entered the Private Aichi Symbiosis Academy despite still being of middle school age. Despite her youth, she is considered one of the most formidable members of the Supreme Five Swords.
Born blind, Tsukuyo adapted by honing her other senses, particularly her hearing, which she developed to an extraordinary degree. This ability allows her to perceive subtle movements with remarkable precision, compensating for her lack of sight and making her an exceptional combatant.
She trained in Yakumaru Jigen-ryū, a derivative of the Jigen-ryū sword style. This placed her in parallel with Fudou Nomura, who studied Jigen-ryū itself. Tsukuyo’s mastery enables her to recognize the flaws in Nomura’s techniques, such as his imperfect execution of Unyō, further emphasizing her superior technical understanding of the style.
Abilities and Powers
Master Swordswoman
As the youngest member of the Supreme Five Swords, Tsukuyo is recognized as a prodigy of the Yakumaru Jigen-ryū style. Despite her age, she is feared by students and respected even among her peers. Her sword strikes are extremely precise and fast, demonstrated when she cut a butterfly mid-flight using only a practice blade. However, her strikes proved less effective against Amou Kirukiru, whose hardened body allowed her to withstand the attacks and retaliate, wounding Tsukuyo.
Enhanced Senses
Born blind, Tsukuyo developed extraordinarily sharp hearing, enabling her to pinpoint opponents’ positions from great distances. She can analyze body language and combat styles purely through sound. For example, she detected Fudou Nomura’s presence in the bathhouse despite his attempts to remain silent with Satori’s help. Her senses, however, are not flawless, as she misjudged Nomura’s condition during that encounter, failing to realize he was exhausted and injured.
Enhanced Speed
Though physically small and frail, Tsukuyo compensates with exceptional speed and reflexes. Her movements are so fast that opponents, including Nomura, have been unable to perceive her drawing or sheathing her sword, often forcing them into retreat.
Madan Techniques
Tsukuyo later demonstrates the ability to use Madan, the technique originally associated with Nomura. She refines it into an upgraded version with significantly greater power, earning Nomura’s respect and leading him to accept her as his mentor. Together, they can perform a Complete Madan, combining their strength to unleash a more powerful attack, though this requires close coordination, with Tsukuyo in Nomura’s arms.
Signature Techniques
Relationships
Fudou Nomura
Tsukuyo initially regarded Nomura with skepticism, especially after observing the flaws in his Jigen-ryū technique. Despite her sharp criticism referring to him as “broken goods” due to his incomplete training, her interactions with him gradually revealed a more personal side. Nomura’s persistence and sincerity drew out emotions she rarely showed to others, including frustration, embarrassment, and even vulnerability.
Their relationship deepened after Nomura saved her during an encounter with Amou Kirukiru, an act that left her flustered and reconsidering her perception of him. Following his eventual victory over Amou, Tsukuyo agreed to serve as Nomura’s martial arts instructor, teaching him an upgraded version of his Madan technique. Their bond is characterized by both rivalry and mentorship, often complicated by Tsukuyo’s tendency to grow irritated when Nomura ignores her words or teases her.
Supreme Five Swords
As a member of the Supreme Five Swords, Tsukuyo maintains a professional relationship with her peers Rin Onigawara, Mary Kikakujou, Satori Tamaba, and Warabi Hanasaka. While she often appears more serious and reserved than the others, she respects their strength and contributes her skill to the group’s collective authority at the academy.
Amou Kirukiru
Amou serves as both a rival and a significant obstacle for Tsukuyo. During their confrontation, Tsukuyo demonstrated her prodigious speed and precision but was ultimately overpowered due to Amou’s hardened body and auto-counter techniques. Despite being wounded, Tsukuyo’s performance earned Amou’s recognition, highlighting the depth of her talent even in defeat.
