Born as Tenko Shimura, Shigaraki was the grandson of Nana Shimura, All Might’s mentor. His life took a tragic turn when his Quirk, Decay, manifested uncontrollably, resulting in the accidental deaths of his family. Abandoned and ostracized, Tenko was taken in by All For One, who manipulated his grief and rage, turning him into his successor.

Under All For One’s guidance, Tenko adopted the name Tomura Shigaraki, a twisted homage to his hatred and his master’s vision. Over time, Shigaraki grew into a ruthless villain, harboring a singular goal: to dismantle the hero society that failed him and others like him.

Shigaraki has pale, sickly skin, white hair, and red eyes, exuding an unsettling and ominous presence. His most notable feature is the disembodied hands he wears on his body, particularly the hand on his face, which belonged to his late family. These hands serve as both a reminder of his traumatic past and a symbol of his descent into villainy. After inheriting All For One, Shigaraki’s appearance becomes more grotesque and scarred, reflecting his transformation into a vessel of immense power and destruction.

Shigaraki begins as an impulsive and immature villain, prone to tantrums and irrational behavior. However, as the series progresses, he develops into a calculated and strategic leader, capable of orchestrating large-scale attacks and commanding loyalty from his subordinates. His deep hatred for hero society, particularly All Might, drives his actions and fuels his desire for destruction.

• League of Villains
  Shigaraki makes his first major appearance as the leader of the League of Villains during the U.S.J. Arc. Initially seen as an immature and erratic antagonist, he begins to grow into his role as a leader, gaining allies such as Kurogiri, Himiko Toga, and Dabi, and targeting U.A. High School and its students.

• Paranormal Liberation Front
  Shigaraki merges the League of Villains with the Meta Liberation Army to form the Paranormal Liberation Front, positioning himself as its Grand Commander. His newfound power and influence mark his rise as a global threat, particularly after inheriting All For One and undergoing a transformation to amplify his abilities.

• Final War Arc
  In the Final War Arc, Shigaraki’s internal struggle with All For One’s vestige reaches its climax. Despite All For One’s attempts to seize control of his body and merge their consciousnesses, Shigaraki successfully reclaims his autonomy, asserting his identity and solidifying his position as Izuku Midoriya’s ultimate adversary. His actions during this arc highlight his role as both a physical and ideological threat to hero society.
