Appearance
Tomoyo’s full apperance.
Tomoyo Sakagami is a striking young woman with long, straight silver hair that cascades down to her upper thighs. She often wears a black headband, and her hair features messy bangs, with a few strands framing her face. Her eyes are a deep navy blue, and she typically carries a composed, stoic expression.
Personality
Tomoyo Sakagami is the epitome of a tomboy, exuding a calm, collected demeanor no matter the circumstances. Though she keeps a small circle, her true friends are Tomoya and Sunohara, with whom she shares a deep bond. Driven by a strong sense of responsibility, Tomoyo excels both intellectually and athletically, often surpassing even the talented Kyou. Despite her tough, no-nonsense attitude, she has little interest in picking fights, preferring to avoid conflict whenever possible. With her quiet, almost aloof nature, Tomoyo fits the mold of a classic Kuudere—someone whose words are few but whose actions speak volumes.
Clannad
In Clanad, Tomoyo is initially introduced as a girl with a tough reputation, rumored to have a history of violence and a record for fighting. These rumors are quickly proven true when she takes down several delinquents from her previous school in broad daylight. Youhei, skeptical of what he’s witnessed, challenges Tomoyo to a fight—and is easily defeated. This sets the stage for a recurring gag throughout the series, where Sunohara, often for ridiculous reasons, challenges Tomoyo to a fight, only to be swiftly and humorously defeated. Tomoyo is known for her lightning-fast kicks, often chaining them together in combos, and she even teams up with Tomoya in one memorable fight. Sunohara’s face is usually obscured after these beatings, a subtle hint that the damage is too severe to show.
As Tomoya spends more time with her, he learns that Tomoyo’s ultimate goal is to become the president of the student council. However, her ambition is not just about power—she’s motivated by a deep desire to protect the school’s cherished cherry blossom trees, which hold significant value for the local community, including her own family.
When Tomoyo finds herself caught up in a fight, Tomoya steps in to take responsibility, hoping to salvage her reputation. However, rumors spread that Tomoyo is the leader of a delinquent gang. In an effort to boost her image and secure her presidency, Tomoya convinces Tomoyo to challenge the school’s athletic clubs to a series of competitions. With a bit of assistance from Tomoya and Sunohara, Tomoyo’s strength and determination help her triumph over each challenge, ultimately earning her the position of student council president.
After Story
In After Story, Tomoyo makes several brief appearances throughout the narrative, though she is not the focus of any major plotlines. She is asked by Youhei to pretend to be his girlfriend in one comedic moment, seeks advice from Misae about her ambitions in school politics, and is occasionally seen patrolling the area for delinquents. While she doesn’t play a central role in the story, she is mentioned in passing during Yukine’s arc. It’s revealed that Yukine’s brother, Kazuto Miyazawa, was the only person who might have been able to stand up to Tomoyo during her days as a delinquent.
After Nagisa is held back a year, she finds herself in the same grade as Tomoyo, though they don’t get to spend much time together due to Tomoyo’s busy schedule as student council president. Still, Tomoyo makes a point of attending Nagisa’s solo graduation ceremony, showing her support. She is briefly referenced during the New Year’s Party, though she doesn’t attend the event herself. In the series’ final episode, Tomoyo is seen watching the sunset alone at the beach, a quiet moment that hints at her personal growth. Additionally, bonus material suggests that she went on to attend university, where she accomplished many notable things.
