Stephanie Dola

Stephanie “Steph” Dola (ステファニー・ドーラ, Sutefanī Dōra) is the granddaughter of the former ruler of Immanity. Following the king’s passing, she engaged in a series of gambles to secure her position as the next queen of the realm. After losing a game to Sora in Episode 02, she was compelled by a pledge to develop feelings for him, a connection she has often tried to deny. However, her feelings have grown stronger over time. In an accompanying short story included with the Blu-ray DVD, it is revealed that Steph experienced a mental breakdown after suffering repeated defeats at the hands of Sora.

A temporary defeat is nothing if it leads to ultimate victory!

Stephanie Dola is an Immanity girl characterized by her short, vibrant red hair, adorned with a prominent blue flower. She possesses striking blue eyes and a curvaceous figure, accentuated by her notable bust. Her outfit includes a shoulder-less cardigan paired with a maid-inspired dress, complemented by leg warmers and boots that often evoke envy among others. In Episode 1, she is seen wearing an elegant gown gifted to her by her grandfather. However, after losing this dress to Chlammy, she finds herself in a towel until Sora creatively outfits her in a dress made from her bedsheet. Following the siblings’ victory over Chlammy in a game for the crown of Immanity, Steph recovers her cherished dress, which then becomes a signature element of her wardrobe. Her measurements are 89-58-89.

Personality

As the princess of Elkia, the land of humans, Stephanie Dola is fiercely competitive and proud, often acting impulsively without considering the potential fallout of her decisions. Motivated by her desire to fulfill her late grandfather’s dreams, she is determined to rescue Elkia from the edge of extinction. Additionally, she possesses a talent for confectionery, showcasing her skills in making sweets.

Stephanie is emotionally expressive and tends to wear her feelings on her sleeve, which can lead to difficulties in concealing her emotions, even during intense situations like a poker game. She held her grandfather in high regard and becomes furious when others disparage him as a fool.

While her initial feelings for Sora were a result of the pledges binding her, she frequently exhibits violent outbursts in an attempt to escape this enforced affection. However, Jibril later points out that the pledge lacked a specified duration, suggesting that Stephanie may have genuinely developed feelings for Sora. Deeply devoted to her kingdom, she firmly believes in the potential of Immanity (humans) and their capacity to thrive.

Social by nature, Steph has formed numerous friendships during her time at school. She is often taken aback by Sora’s audacious actions, such as his unexpected declarations of war against other nations, typically reacting with exaggerated responses.

Stephanie also possesses a kind heart and strives to resolve conflicts peacefully with opposing parties. Although she often resents being left alone to manage Elkia’s affairs while the siblings are preoccupied, she handles her responsibilities with competence. Her relationship with Hatsuse Ino deepens as they collaborate to oversee Elkia’s matters during Sora and Shiro’s absence, forming a strong bond.

Despite her good intentions, Stephanie’s lack of insight and caution has led to her being labeled a “fool,” much like her late grandfather. This becomes a recurring joke, as more polite and intelligent individuals often fail to treat her with the respect she deserves.

While not as manipulative as representatives from other races, both Miko and others recognize her as a reliable confidante and a valuable ally. She diligently executes tasks even in extreme mental and physical stress and remains loyal to those she cares about, refusing to betray them unless absolutely necessary.

Background

Stephanie Dola is a direct descendant of Couronne Dola and the granddaughter of Makoto Dola, making her the legitimate heir to the throne of the Elkia Kingdom. However, her grandfather, Makoto, opted to determine the next ruler through games rather than solely relying on lineage. Unfortunately, Steph faced defeat against Chlammy Zell in this competition, which ultimately led her to encounter Sora and Shiro.

Abilities

Strengths
Stephanie Dola is surprisingly intelligent, consistently ranking at the top of her class. Unlike Sora and Shiro, she excels at making friends, which facilitates communication and information gathering from ordinary individuals—an invaluable asset for the duo. Her connections with many noble families in the Elkia Kingdom further enhance her diplomatic skills, allowing her to negotiate effectively with feudal lords resistant to Sora’s unconventional policies.

Despite often being humorously labeled as “Steph” by Sora and Shiro, she demonstrates impressive gaming skills, particularly in games that blend luck and strategy, such as poker. Leveraging her grandfather’s technique of observing and analyzing opponents, she has proven adept at adapting her gameplay to secure victories. Hatsune Ino has even referred to her as “Immanity’s strongest gamer,” second only to Blank. However, her gameplay typically involves enduring initial defeats before staging a comeback.

While her abilities as an Immanity are somewhat limited, Stephanie possesses remarkable stamina and determination, often rivaling or even surpassing Sora and Shiro. She manages the daily operations of the Commonwealth of Elkia with occasional assistance from the Hatsuse siblings, handling everything from paperwork to engaging in strategic games against political adversaries. As the caretaker of the N.E.E.T. siblings, she frequently tackles unusual and challenging tasks, such as crafting unique swimsuits and managing 989 Productions, showcasing her versatile life and technical skills.

Her capabilities are highlighted through her intensive efforts in key games against Laira and Holou, where she diligently gathers information to aid Sora, both in romantic pursuits and during strategic confrontations. She also takes on physical challenges, including the monumental task of carrying『 』across the vast Diceboard during her encounter with the Old Deus. Remarkably, she has shown unexpected talent in dancing as well.

Weaknesses
Stephanie’s trusting nature can sometimes lead her into precarious situations, as she tends to be somewhat naïve. Her optimism often clouds her judgment, resulting in Sora reprimanding her for her overly trusting demeanor. While she is regarded as intelligent—often surprising Sora, Shiro, and others—she has a tendency to overthink specific elements of a situation, which can cause her to overlook other important details or possibilities. Although she comprehends Sora’s and Shiro’s strategies, she struggles to grasp them without clear explanations, leaving her often uninformed and reliant on her own intuition, even though she plays a crucial role in their successes.

Her short temper and emotional sensitivity make her vulnerable to psychological manipulation during games, which can lead to comedic moments, especially concerning the pledges she must uphold—typically as a result of challenges from Sora or Shiro after losing to them.

Stephanie’s approach, characterized by her eagerness to challenge others in hopes of eventual victory (whether through strategic learning or sheer luck), is not inherently a weakness. However, it has placed her in a position to fulfill her pledge to Sora, frequently landing her in embarrassing situations.

Although her method relies on trial and error, which often involves suffering losses to pave the way for potential success, it demands a strong will and sharp intellect. Stephanie continues to seek a genuine game of pure chance where she can best Sora, yet her understanding of『 』and their methodologies has significantly improved due to her experiences and the siblings’ guidance.
