Etymology
The name Shinobu (忍) is derived from the Japanese word for “ninja” and can also be interpreted to mean “endurance” or “perseverance” (nintai / 忍耐), reflecting her stealthy nature and resilience.
Her surname, Sarutobi (猿飛), combines saru (猿), meaning “monkey” or “ape,” and tobi (飛), meaning “to fly” or “leap.” This surname is commonly associated with agile and elusive ninja characters in Japanese folklore and fiction, emphasizing her nimbleness and skill in espionage.
