Shinju Inui (乾 心寿, Inui Shinju), is a supporting character in the anime and manga series Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru (My Dress-Up Darling). She is introduced as the younger sister of Sajuna Inui, also known by her cosplay alias “Juju.” Despite being younger, Shinju has a mature and calm demeanor, and she plays an important role in supporting her sister’s cosplay endeavors—primarily acting as her photographer and assistant.
Initially content with remaining behind the camera, Shinju slowly develops her own love for cosplay. Her journey explores themes of self-image, body confidence, and personal expression, making her character arc one of quiet yet powerful emotional growth.
Background

Appearance in anime
Shinju is the younger sibling of Sajuna Inui, though she appears older due to her taller stature and more developed figure. While Sajuna is small and youthful-looking, Shinju is often mistaken for the older sister, which has contributed to her own insecurities. Despite this, Shinju is incredibly supportive of Sajuna, acting as her cosplay photographer, manager, and emotional pillar.
Shinju has always admired her sister’s ability to express herself confidently through cosplay but believed she couldn’t participate herself because of her body type. However, after meeting Wakana Gojo and Marin Kitagawa, she begins to reconsider that belief and eventually gathers the courage to step in front of the camera for the first time.
Appearance
Shinju is a tall girl with a curvy build, long dark brown hair often worn in a ponytail, and gentle brown eyes. She wears glasses and typically dresses modestly in casual or school attire, opting for oversized clothing that makes her appear more reserved and mature.
Her appearance stands in stark contrast to her sister’s petite frame, and though she appears composed, her expressions often convey subtle emotions—shyness, admiration, or nervous excitement—especially when discussing cosplay.
Personality
Shinju is quiet, observant, and deeply considerate. She often takes a backseat in social situations, preferring to support others from behind the scenes. As Sajuna’s number one fan and helper, Shinju takes her photography duties seriously and works hard to ensure every shot captures her sister’s beauty and hard work.
Though introverted, Shinju has a deep love for cosplay and character design. She struggles with self-doubt and body image but also displays impressive emotional intelligence and courage when she finally decides to cosplay herself. Her growth is marked by subtle bravery, making her one of the most relatable and quietly inspiring characters in the series.
Role in the Story
-
Supporting Her Sister
Shinju is first introduced as Sajuna’s trusted assistant, attending meetings and photo shoots to help her with costume adjustments, lighting, and photography. Though she speaks little at first, it’s clear she plays a vital role in Sajuna’s success and is the backbone of their operation. -
Developing an Interest in Cosplay
After spending time with Gojo and Marin, Shinju is moved by their support and encouragement. She reveals her own desire to cosplay but fears judgment due to her body type. When Gojo offers to help her create a cosplay that suits her style and comfort, she reluctantly agrees. -
First Cosplay and Confidence
Shinju cosplays a male character from one of her favorite series, choosing a design that fits her strengths. The resulting costume crafted by Gojo marks her first step into the cosplay spotlight. The overwhelming support she receives helps her gain confidence in her body and her passion, and her bond with her sister grows even stronger through the shared experience.
Relationships
Sajuna Inui
Her older sister and closest companion. Though their personalities differ, their bond is unshakable. Shinju looks up to Sajuna and works tirelessly to support her dreams, often hiding her own in the process. When Sajuna learns about Shinju’s desire to cosplay, she becomes one of her biggest supporters.
Wakana Gojo
Shinju sees Gojo as a kind and dependable figure who encourages her to embrace her love for cosplay. His patience and care during her first costume-making process help her feel seen and understood. She is extremely grateful for his help in bringing her dream to life.
Marin Kitagawa
Though they don’t interact as frequently, Shinju admires Marin’s confidence and enthusiasm. Marin, in turn, supports Shinju’s journey with open arms, showing excitement and pride when Shinju steps into cosplay.
