Shin Iryuu

Shin Iryuu (伊柳心, Iryuu Shin) is a supporting character in Sign of Affection.

He is introduced as one of Itsuomi Nagi’s friends, along with Emma Nakazono, as the three attended the same high school. Shin is known to have harbored unrequited feelings for Emma for a long time until he eventually confessed to her, and the two later became a couple.

Appearance

Shin is an attractive young man who stands a few inches shorter than Itsuomi, with shoulder-length hair and amethyst, purple-colored eyes.

When he was first introduced alongside Emma, his hair was a shade of blondish peach, seen during the scene when they arrived at Itsuomi’s workplace while inebriated. Later, when he meets Yuki for the first time, his hair changes to silver with lilac purple tips. After he begins dating Emma, his hair returns to blonde. During high school, however, his hair was much shorter, cut to nape length, and its natural color was jet black.

Shin’s fashion sense is stylish and modern. He is often seen wearing fashionable outfits complemented by a pair of tinted shades and accessorized with several piercings that enhance his cool and trendy appearance.

Personality

Shin is generally known to be composed and laidback. Because he keeps his thoughts and feelings to himself, it is often hard to tell what he is thinking, giving him an unapproachable vibe.

However, when he is with Emma, he opens up and talks more freely. When he becomes very drunk with her, he can become extremely talkative, sometimes to the point of not remembering much the following day.

History

Though not much is revealed about Shin’s background, it is known that he, along with Itsuomi and Emma, attended the same high school and have remained friends since then. He harbored unrequited feelings for Emma but kept them to himself, continuing to support her pursuit of Itsuomi despite his own feelings. Currently, Shin works as a hairstylist, a career path he chose after graduating from high school.
