At first, Shiki Tademaru comes across as abrasive and overbearing, often asserting authority over Kabane by highlighting their age difference and distancing himself due to their shared hybrid status. This harsh and dismissive behavior, however, serves as a mask for his deeper insecurities and emotional isolation. Beneath his guarded front lies a sensitive and lonely individual who gradually reveals a more vulnerable and compassionate side as the series progresses.

During missions, Shiki demonstrates a calm and strategic mindset. He has a sharp ability to analyze situations and react with precision, especially when using his spider threads to protect himself and his allies. His thread manipulation is among his strongest assets in combat. Despite his tactical strengths, Shiki is prone to sudden bursts of anger. When emotionally provoked or under pressure, he can act on impulse, exposing moments of inner conflict and fragility.

In the face of powerful adversaries, Shiki occasionally falters, revealing lingering fears and self-doubt. Before arriving at Inugami’s detective agency and being taken in by his uncle, Shiki Tademaru lived with his mother in Kinshi-Go, a village located in Gunma Prefecture. Little is initially known about his early childhood, but this period of his life plays a significant role in shaping his emotional struggles and personal growth throughout the series.

As a half-Arachne hybrid, Shiki Tademaru possesses several spider-like abilities, particularly related to the generation and manipulation of threads. His unique physiology allows him to adapt his thread creation for various combat and utility purposes.

Thread Creation
Shiki can produce threads similar to a spider’s, using sweat or saliva as the base material. He can alter the composition and properties of these threads to suit different needs.

Hardening Thread (硬化糸, Kōka Ito): A thread that causes water it touches to solidify. When the solidified water is exposed to heat, it returns to its liquid state.

Melting Thread (溶解糸, Yōkaī Ito): A thread that dissolves when heated.

Stealth Thread (疑態糸, Suterusu Ito): By drinking water and using sweat-based thread, Shiki can render himself invisible through camouflage.

Thread Manipulation
Shiki has precise control over the threads he creates. He uses them not only in combat but also to craft specialized gear, such as wearable enhancements for mobility and combat.

Bug Camouflage (擬態する虫の): A form of self-camouflage that enables Shiki to become invisible to others.

Sneakers (繊維靴, Sen’i Kutsu)
Totsuka is a powerful technique taught to Kabane by Fukuhime Yashima. It involves concentrating all of his Kemono power into the palm of his hand, then unleashing it in a single, high-impact strike. The technique channels intense vibrations capable of causing severe internal and external damage. When executed properly, it amplifies the user’s power by up to tenfold, making it one of Kabane’s most destructive abilities.

Air Model (空型, Kūgata): Increases jumping ability.

Spike Model (棘型, Togegata): Produces spike-covered soles for offensive use.

Speed Model (速型, Sokugata): Boosts his movement speed.
