Shiipon (しぃぽん) is one of the main characters in the anime series Akiba Maid War. She works as the resident gyaru (gal-style) maid at the Oinky Doink Café. Known for her flashy appearance and carefree attitude, Shiipon adds a modern, street-savvy flair to the otherwise eclectic maid roster, contributing both comedic charm and unexpected depth to the story.
Background

Appearance in Anime
Shiipon lived much of her early life as a drifter, moving from one interest to another without ever settling on a clear path. Her easygoing, seemingly indifferent attitude led her to fall into the job of a maid at random after receiving a recruitment flyer from the Oinky Doink Café’s manager. To her own surprise, it became the first job she genuinely enjoyed. Though she initially appeared to treat the role casually, she grew fond of the café and her co-workers, finding fulfillment in the sense of community they provided.
In Episode 4, Shiipon’s loyalty is put to the test when Sano, a representative of Creatureland, imposes a harsh new training regime on the café staff. Refusing to comply, Shiipon attempts to resist, only for Sano to manipulate the other maids into turning against her. Feeling ostracized, Shiipon tries to flee and is briefly aided by Ranko Mannen. However, after witnessing the café’s former manager and Okachimachi scavenging for food in the trash, Shiipon is moved by their dedication and decides to stay.
Determined to protect the café, Shiipon adopts a more disciplined look and attitude to fit the new expectations. Yet, her transformation is met with anger from the former manager, who returns to the café with Okachimachi and a bazooka, inciting chaos. During the confrontation, the café devolves into infighting until Shiipon, wielding the bazooka herself, destroys the Creatureland insignia and reminds the others of their original purpose: that they became maids for enjoyment and camaraderie, not for hierarchy or profit.
Appearance
Shiipon has tan skin, golden eyes, and dyed blonde hair, which she typically wears in a high half ponytail. Her signature look includes the standard Oinky Doink Café maid uniform, complemented by thigh-high black platform boots and noticeable makeup that accentuates her gyaru style.
It is revealed that her natural hair color is dark brown, indicating her dyed appearance is part of her chosen aesthetic rather than her original look.
Personality
Shiipon is laid-back and easygoing, often adopting a relaxed, go-with-the-flow attitude regardless of the situation. She tends to speak in a casual, matter-of-fact manner and rarely appears rattled, even when caught up in the unpredictable schemes of the Oinky Doink Café’s manager. Though she initially comes across as detached, her actions reveal a deeper loyalty and care for her fellow maids, especially when their camaraderie is threatened.
Relationships
Yasuko Yaegashi
Yasuko, the manager of Oinky Doink Café, recruited Shiipon while she was still a high school student. Shiipon appears to have a higher tolerance for Yasuko’s chaotic behavior compared to other maids, such as Yumechi. In Episode 3, she even goes so far as to take out a loan offering her organs as collateral to bet on Ranko Mannen in a boxing match, reflecting her loyalty and willingness to follow Yasuko’s risky plans. When Shiipon is temporarily transformed under Minori Sano’s strict control, she ultimately sides with Yasuko in reclaiming the café, fully supporting her return to leadership.
Yumechi
Shiipon shares a close bond with Yumechi, with the two often portrayed as the longest-serving and most synchronized members of the Oinky Doink Café. They express a mutual passion for the café and its staff, frequently standing up together when the reputation or integrity of their workplace is challenged. Their teamwork and shared convictions form a strong foundation for their friendship.
