Sakuya Amamiya (née Sakuya Tachibana), is a major character in God Eater Burst. She is a veteran sniper, sub-leader of the First Unit, and one of the top-ranking shooters among the God Eaters. Specializing in long-range combat, Sakuya wields a sniper-type Old-Type God Arc, making her one of the most precise and deadly marksmen in Fenrir’s Far East Branch.
Known for her calm and composed nature, Sakuya serves as a reliable second-in-command to Lindow Amamiya. She is also recognized for her compassionate demeanor, often acting as a maternal figure to younger and newer God Eaters. Over time, she develops a romantic relationship with Lindow, and in God Eater 2, she becomes Sakuya Amamiya after marrying him.
Background

Appearance in anime
Sakuya was recruited into Fenrir’s Far East Branch at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks due to her exceptional marksmanship and leadership abilities. As an Old-Type God Eater, she is among the early generations who wield non-adaptive God Arcs, meaning she is restricted to using only gun forms rather than switching between melee and ranged weapons like later New-Type God Eaters.
During her years in the First Unit, she became one of Lindow Amamiya’s most trusted comrades, assisting in battle and supporting her team as their sniper specialist. Unlike many God Eaters who thrive in close combat, Sakuya excels at long-range precision strikes, eliminating targets from a safe distance with unparalleled accuracy.
Despite her deadly proficiency in combat, Sakuya harbors self-doubt about her abilities, particularly after certain tragedies in the field. She deeply values her comrades and is known for looking after younger members, particularly Alisa Ilinichina Amiella, who sees Sakuya as a mentor and older sister figure. By the events of God Eater 2, Sakuya has left the frontlines and transitioned into a support role, focusing on research and logistics while assisting the new generation of God Eaters.
Appearance
Sakuya has long, light brown hair, usually tied back in a loose ponytail, and green eyes. She has a mature and graceful appearance, often wearing a military-style uniform with a sleeveless top and short shorts, emphasizing mobility in combat.
As a veteran sniper, she carries herself with confidence, but her soft facial expressions and gentle demeanor contrast with her battle-hardened skills. In God Eater 2, her design is slightly updated to reflect her more mature and settled life after stepping away from combat.
Personality
Sakuya is calm, level-headed, and nurturing, acting as a maternal figure within the First Unit. She is one of the most compassionate and understanding members of Fenrir, often helping younger recruits with advice, support, and encouragement.
Despite her gentle nature, she is a formidable warrior and will not hesitate to take down Aragami when needed. Her experience as a sniper specialist makes her highly tactical, and she often prefers to analyze situations before engaging in battle.
Sakuya struggles with self-doubt at times, particularly regarding her effectiveness in combat. After certain tragic missions, she has moments where she questions whether she is strong enough to protect those she cares about. However, she remains one of the most dedicated members of Fenrir, always putting her team’s well-being above her own.
Her relationship with Lindow Amamiya is a major aspect of her character arc, and she is one of the few God Eaters who expresses open affection, though she remains professional in battle.
Role in the Story
-
God Eater Burst
Sakuya plays a critical role as Lindow Amamiya’s second-in-command, providing long-range support and tactical guidance to the First Unit. As a veteran sniper, she assists the Protagonist in learning the strategic importance of ranged combat, often offering advice on teamwork and survival tactics. One of her most defining moments in the story is her involvement in the search for Lindow after he goes missing. Devastated by his disappearance, she struggles with guilt and becomes emotionally vulnerable, but remains steadfast in her duties. She also develops a close bond with Alisa, helping the younger recruit overcome her psychological trauma after an Aragami attack. Her patience and kindness play a crucial role in Alisa’s recovery. -
God Eater 2
By the events of God Eater 2, Sakuya has stepped back from active combat, taking on a supporting role within Fenrir’s research division. She is now married to Lindow Amamiya and focuses on providing logistical support and guidance to the next generation of God Eaters. Although she no longer fights on the frontlines, she remains an influential presence, offering strategic advice and emotional support to the new recruits. She occasionally assists in special operations, proving that she is still a deadly marksman when needed.
Relationships
Lindow Amamiya
Sakuya has deep romantic feelings for Lindow, and their bond is one of the most well-developed relationships in the series. Though they often bicker playfully, Lindow is one of the few people who can bring out Sakuya’s softer side. After his disappearance in God Eater Burst, she is deeply affected and plays a major role in searching for him. By God Eater 2, they are married, marking one of the rare instances in the franchise where a romantic relationship reaches a natural conclusion.
Alisa Ilinichina Amiella
Sakuya acts as an older sister figure to Alisa, offering guidance and emotional support when she struggles with PTSD and personal trauma. Their close bond is one of the most heartwarming dynamics in the series.
Soma Schicksal
While not particularly close, Sakuya acknowledges Soma’s strength and reliability in battle. She occasionally tries to get him to open up, though Soma remains distant.
Protagonist (God Eater Burst)
As one of the veterans of the First Unit, Sakuya guides and mentors the Protagonist throughout their early missions. Depending on the player’s choices, she can form a strong bond with them.
