Metori Saiko (才虎 芽斗吏, Saiko Metori), is the wealthy heir of the Saiko Conglomerate and one of the supporting characters in Saiki Kusuo no Psi-nan (The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.). He initially appears as a smug, arrogant, and entitled student who believes that money can solve any problem. However, as the series progresses, he gradually develops more empathy and begins to value his classmates beyond their social status.
Metori transfers to PK Academy after falling in love with Kokomi Teruhashi, having been instantly captivated by her beauty when he saw her in the city. His initial personality is heavily defined by his extreme wealth, often trying to buy people’s admiration or solve problems with money. However, over time, he learns humility and begins forming genuine relationships with those around him.
Background

Appearance in anime
Metori comes from one of the wealthiest families in Japan, with the Saiko Conglomerate being a top-tier financial empire. As a result, he grew up spoiled, believing that money could buy anything, including friendship, loyalty, and admiration. His lack of real social experiences made him arrogant and out-of-touch, assuming that he was superior to everyone around him simply because of his wealth.
After seeing Kokomi Teruhashi in the city, he immediately fell in love and decided to transfer to PK Academy, believing that he could win her affection with his wealth. However, upon arriving at PK Academy, he was shocked to find that not everyone was impressed by his money, particularly Kusuo Saiki and his group of friends, who refused to be bought.
Over time, Metori gradually begins to change, realizing that his wealth does not automatically make him better than others. Through his interactions with Kusuo, Nendou, Kaidou, and the rest of the class, he starts to develop real friendships and understand the value of humility.
Appearance
Metori has short, wavy blonde hair and sharp blue eyes, giving him a refined and aristocratic appearance. His smug expression and confident posture reflect his initial arrogance and belief in his superiority over others.
He wears a modified version of the PK Academy uniform, adding expensive accessories and personal styling to make himself stand out. He often carries luxurious items, such as designer watches, expensive jewelry, and custom-made shoes, further emphasizing his wealthy background.
Personality
At first, Metori is arrogant, self-absorbed, and completely out of touch with reality, believing that money is the answer to everything. He looks down on his classmates, seeing them as commoners beneath him, and often flaunts his wealth to gain attention.
However, despite his smug and stubborn nature, Metori is not a bad person he is simply spoiled and naïve, never having experienced genuine friendships or struggles. As he spends more time at PK Academy, he gradually softens, learning to respect his classmates and understand that wealth alone does not make someone superior.
By the end of the series, Metori becomes much more likable, showing genuine concern for his classmates and even engaging in activities without relying on money. His character arc highlights his transition from an elitist snob to a more grounded and relatable person.

Clashing with Kusuo and His Friends
Upon arriving at PK Academy, Metori immediately clashes with Kusuo’s friend group, particularly Riki Nendou and Shun Kaidou, who he sees as low-class commoners. However, no matter how much money he throws around, they continue to treat him like a normal person, frustrating him but also slowly helping him change for the better. -

Kokomi Teruhashi
Metori falls in love with Kokomi at first sight, believing that his wealth would be enough to win her over. However, Kokomi shows no interest in him, as she is too preoccupied with trying to impress Kusuo. Riki Nendou
Metori initially despises Nendou, seeing him as the epitome of a poor, uncultured commoner. However, Nendou’s easygoing and friendly nature slowly forces Metori to interact with him, leading to hilarious situations where Metori is reluctantly pulled into Nendou’s world.
Shun Kaidou
