This is evident during his first encounter with Osamu Dazai, where he nonchalantly arrests him and expresses strong disapproval of Dazai’s bloodstained past. Beneath his composed demeanor, Jōno hides a fierce temper, often laced with harsh threats and remarks directed at both allies and adversaries.

Tetchō Suehiro frequently finds himself the target of Jōno’s exasperation due to his offbeat nature, and even Ōchi Fukuchi does not escape Jōno’s critical eye. Jōno has subtly scolded Fukuchi for his theatrics with military troops, going so far as to threaten to shoot him from behind. Jōno also harbors antagonistic feelings toward others he dislikes, such as a government official and even his own comrades, which he occasionally expresses through silent or vocal ill will. Sensitive to his surroundings, Jōno despises intense emotional outbursts or sudden shifts in mood, preferring a controlled and stable environment.

Jōno’s sadistic tendencies become evident during interrogations, where he takes pleasure in tormenting his targets until they divulge the information he seeks.
