Ryuuji Takasu is an average-height young man characterized by his short blue hair that falls just below his neck, complemented by bangs that partially obscure his forehead. His sharp, thin eyebrows add to his striking look. However, it is his distinctive sanpaku eyes—resulting from genetic traits—that give him an intimidating aura, often leading others to perceive him as a delinquent and resulting in frequent misunderstandings. Typically, Ryuuji can be seen in his school uniform, further contributing to his everyday persona.
Personality
Ryuuji Takasu is often seen helping Taiga Aisaka with domestic chores, compensating for her inability to manage them herself. At school, he has earned the reputation of being “the only person able to stop the Palmtop Tiger,” a nod to Taiga’s fierce nature. Despite his intimidating appearance and the misunderstandings that arise from it, Ryuuji harbors a self-critical nature stemming from his upbringing, yet he is genuinely kind and selfless, sometimes to a fault.
Calm and composed in most situations, Ryuuji demonstrates responsibility and intelligence, consistently achieving excellent grades, even surpassing those of his best friend, Yusaku Kitamura. In the light novels, he glimpses the softer side of Taiga that she conceals from others. However, in the anime adaptation, he often appears oblivious to the romantic feelings of the girls around him, particularly regarding the dynamics between him, Taiga, Minori Kushieda, and Ami Kawashima.

Background
Ryuuji Takasu grew up in a challenging environment, as his father, who was reportedly a delinquent, abandoned him and his mother, Yasuko, leaving her to raise him alone. During his childhood, Yasuko told Ryuuji that his father had died, shaping his perception of his family history.
Inheriting many of his father’s physical traits, particularly his sharp, sanpaku eyes and expressions, Ryuuji often faces misunderstandings due to his intimidating appearance. Taiga Aisaka
Ryuuji’s relationship with Taiga Aisaka begins tumultuously when they accidentally bump into each other, resulting in Taiga punching him due to her bad mood. Despite this rocky start, they soon become close friends, particularly after Ryuuji discovers Taiga’s intention to confess her feelings to Yusaku Kitamura . In a bid to help each other navigate their romantic interests, they decide to cooperate, leading Taiga to exploit Ryuuji’s willingness to assist her. She makes him her personal servant, assigning him household chores like cooking and cleaning. Taiga spends so much time at Ryuuji’s house that she becomes nearly a part of his family.
As Ryuuji learns more about Taiga, he gets to know a side of her that few others see. They help each other improve their reputations, but their close relationship raises eyebrows at school, and rumors begin to circulate. As their bond deepens, they eventually confess their true feelings for one another and marry in the future.
Minori Kushieda
At the start of the series, Ryuuji harbors a crush on Minori Kushieda . He blushes around her and admires her greatly. As the story unfolds, he gathers the courage to confess his feelings, only to be rejected. Minori later admits that she reciprocates Ryuuji’s feelings but chose to hold back because she wanted Taiga to be happy first. Though slightly shocked, Ryuuji ultimately prioritizes his feelings for Taiga over Minori, realizing that his love for Taiga is stronger.
Ami Kawashima
When Ryuuji first meets Ami Kawashima , she pretends to be kind, but her true personality emerges later on. Ami enjoys teasing Ryuuji, finding him intriguing, and as their friendship develops, she begins to harbor romantic feelings for him. Despite this, she values her friendship with Ryuuji and often drops hints about not getting romantically involved with him, understanding the complexities of Taiga’s and Minori’s feelings.
Ami and Ryuuji frequently converse at her “usual spot” between two vending machines, where he accepts her true nature.
