Ritsuka Fujimaru

Ritsuka Fujimaru (藤丸 立香, Fujimaru Ritsuka) is the protagonist of Fate/Grand Order. Acting as a Master under the Chaldea Security Organization, Ritsuka is tasked with completing the Grand Orders to restore the Human Order by preventing the incineration of humanity. They are primarily partnered with the Shielder-class Servant, Mash Kyrielight, and establish contracts with numerous other Servants summoned to aid their mission. Ritsuka’s name and gender can be customized by the player, with the fan-designated nicknames Gudao (ぐだ男, Guda-o) for the male version and Gudako (ぐだ子, Guda-ko) for the female version.

Ritsuka Fujimaru female version

Fujimaru is depicted with an average build, although the male version displays a more visibly muscular physique. Mash Kyrielight describes Fujimaru as being of medium height. The character’s appearance varies depending on the chosen gender.

Male Version
The male Fujimaru has short, unkempt dark brown hair and blue eyes, giving him a casual yet sharp look. His build is lean but muscular, reflecting a balance between agility and strength.

Female Version
The female Fujimaru features shoulder-length red hair tied into a side-ponytail on the left side with a yellow hairband, accentuating her energetic and approachable demeanor. She also has a distinct cowlick that adds a playful touch to her design. Her light orange eyes give her an expressive and warm appearance.

In both versions, Fujimaru’s Command Spells are prominently located on their right hand. Unlike Hakuno Kishinami from other Fate works, the design and form of their Command Spells differ depending on whether Fujimaru is depicted as male or female, adding an extra layer of individuality to each version of the character.

Personality

Fujimaru is defined by their unwavering determination, deep empathy, and unshakable commitment to the survival of humanity. Their alignment is described as Neutral Good, though characters like the Lion King and James Moriarty suggest their morality reflects a duality of good and evil—knowing good while committing evil acts for the greater good. Fujimaru’s defining trait is their ability to form bonds with Servants, valuing and respecting them regardless of their nature or alignment. This respect allows Fujimaru to create strong relationships, even with dangerous and unstable individuals.

Fujimaru is courageous, willing to face dangerous situations head-on, often going to extreme lengths to aid others. Their foolhardiness, as noted by characters like Kadoc Zemlupus, highlights their willingness to take risks even when the odds are against them. This was demonstrated during their attempt to retrieve the carcass of Specimen E, an ominous creature, showcasing their bravery despite the danger.

Throughout their journey across Singularities and Lostbelts, Fujimaru exhibits perseverance and mental fortitude, even when faced with overwhelming odds. Their resolve is particularly ed during battles like the confrontation with ORT in the South American Lostbelt, where they continue to fight despite losing allies, embodying an unyielding spirit to protect humanity.

Fujimaru’s ability to adapt to extreme situations is widely recognized by their allies, including Mash Kyrielight, who views them as an upright, normal person striving to do their best. They exhibit an iron will, earning the admiration of legendary figures like Vlad III, who praises their capabilities as a commander. Despite their incredible strength of character, Fujimaru remains grounded, showing kindness to both allies and enemies, as noted by U-Olga Marie in her final moments.

While initially calm and composed in the face of danger, Fujimaru begins to show signs of emotional strain following the events of the Russian Lostbelt. Confronted with the moral implications of their actions—destroying alternate worlds to save their own—they experience deep internal conflict. However, they draw strength from the sacrifices of others, such as Patxi, and continue their journey with an ever-strengthening resolve to fight for a better future.

Fujimaru’s love for pop culture, particularly mecha-themed media like Gundam, is one of the few personal interests consistently depicted across Fate/Grand Order. In the South American Lostbelt, their knowledge of paleontology is also highlighted. In the anime adaptation Absolute Demonic Front Babylonia, Fujimaru reveals that Ushiwakamaru was their childhood hero, adding a personal layer to their connection with the Servants they command.

Despite the weight of their responsibilities, Fujimaru dreams of a peaceful future where they can open a bakery with the person they love—a simple yet poignant goal that underscores their humanity.
