Appearance
In his default slime form, Rimuru is a small, translucent, bluish blob. This form may seem unassuming at first glance, but it’s highly versatile and can easily reshape or contort itself at will. The slime’s body is smooth and elastic, allowing Rimuru to absorb objects or enemies, storing their mass and abilities within himself. Despite its simple appearance, Rimuru’s slime form houses immense magical power, which increases significantly after his evolution into a Demon Lord. His slime body is highly durable and immune to conventional physical damage, and his fluid nature allows him to compress or expand his mass as needed.
When Rimuru takes on his human form, his appearance changes drastically. After consuming Shizue’s body, Rimuru’s human form adopts many of her features, resulting in a slightly androgynous appearance due to slimes being genderless. In this form, Rimuru has a youthful, delicate look with soft, pale skin and a slender, almost ethereal build. He has short, silvery-blue hair that complements his vibrant golden eyes, which glow with an otherworldly light. His facial features are gentle and somewhat feminine, with large, expressive eyes and a calm, approachable demeanor.
Rimuru’s human form doesn’t age, making him appear perpetually youthful. His androgynous look, combined with his slim build, often leads others to mistake him for a young boy or girl at first glance. Despite the frail appearance of his human body, Rimuru retains all his slime-based abilities and magical prowess, making him deceptively powerful.
Rimuru is typically seen wearing simple yet functional clothes—often a blue or black robe with matching pants and boots. In colder environments, he dons a long, fur-lined cloak for added warmth, though he doesn’t need it due to his resistance to temperature extremes. Occasionally, he also wears Shizue’s mask, a memento of her that helps conceal the intense magical aura he radiates as a Demon Lord.
Though Rimuru’s human form gives him a more traditional, approachable appearance, his true strength lies in the fluid adaptability of his slime body, which can transform and evolve as needed in battle or exploration.

Sypnosis
The story ofRimuru Tempest, formerly known as Satoru Mikami, unfolds inThat Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. What begins as an ordinary day for Satoru quickly spirals into an unexpected journey into another world. After a tragic incident leads to his death, Satoru is reincarnated in a new body—as a slime, one of the weakest monsters in the world. However, thanks to his dying thoughts and a mysterious voice, he awakens with incredible new abilities that will change his fate forever.
Pre-Reincarnation
Satoru Mikami, a middle-aged man living a quiet life in Japan, never expected his final moments to be filled with such intensity. One day, while meeting his friend Tamura and his fiancée Miho Sawatari, a random act of violence disrupts his life. A hooded stranger charges at Miho with a knife, and without thinking, Satoru steps in to protect his friends. He takes the blade to his back, collapsing as blood pours from his wound. As he succumbs to his injuries, Satoru’s final thoughts are filled with strange, mundane wishes—such as asking Tamura to take care of his computer and wondering how cold his body felt.

As he succumbs to his injuries, Satoru’s final thoughts are filled with strange, mundane wishes—such as asking Tamura to take care of his computer and wondering how cold his body felt.
In these moments of near-death, a mysterious feminine voice begins to echo in his mind, interpreting his thoughts and granting him strange abilities like heat and cold resistance. Satoru dies, thinking his life is over, unaware that this was merely the beginning of a much larger adventure.
Early Days as a Slime
Satoru awakens, confused and disoriented, in a dark, unfamiliar place. He soon realizes that he has been reincarnated, but not as a human—instead, he has become a slime, a creature with no limbs, no face, and no voice. Despite this, he feels no pain or discomfort. As his vision slowly clears, he begins to understand his new surroundings: rocks, plants, and a cave stretch before him.
As he tries to make sense of his new body, Satoru discovers that he can absorb and dissolve objects by touching them, thanks to his unique skill “Predator.” When he consumes things, they are stored and analyzed inside him. He also gains knowledge about the world and its materials from an inner voice known as the “Great Sage,” who helps guide him. As Rimuru starts consuming plants and magic ores from the cave, he gradually adapts to his slime form, becoming more agile and curious about his new world.
One day, while wandering the cave, Rimuru falls into a lake and panics, thinking he will drown. However, he quickly learns that he can consume water and swim using his new skill,Water Pressure Propulsion. It is during this exploration that Rimuru encounters a booming voice coming from a giant shadow behind a wall. The voice belongs toVeldora, the Storm Dragon, a mighty creature sealed away for destroying a town 300 years ago. Veldora is lonely and bored, and the two quickly form a bond.
Veldora explains that Rimuru is the first reincarnated being he has met in a long time, and shares information about “Otherworlders”—people summoned to this world from other dimensions. Eager for friendship, Veldora offers to give Rimuru a family name. Rimuru chooses “Tempest” as his last name, symbolizing the storm that surrounds their meeting. In return, Veldora grants him the name “Rimuru,” a moment that causes Rimuru to feel a strange, deep connection in his soul.
In an attempt to free his new friend, Rimuru usesPredatorto consume Veldora and store him safely inside his body. With Veldora gone, Rimuru explores the cave further, fighting and absorbing various monsters along the way, gaining new skills likePoisonous BreathandWater Blade. After months of exploration, he finally reaches a massive door leading out of the cave. Three human adventurers open the door, and Rimuru sneaks out, avoiding detection by remaining invisible.
Building Tempest and Forming Alliances
Rimuru finds himself in a vast, mystical forest after leaving the cave. Here, he encounters a group of goblins who are desperate for help. Their god, Veldora, has vanished, and they are being attacked by a pack of Direwolves. The goblin chief begs Rimuru for protection, and though unsure of his abilities, Rimuru agrees. The Direwolves soon attack, but Rimuru uses his new skills to swiftly defeat their leader. With the wolves now subdued, Rimuru offers them a choice: serve him or face defeat. The wolves submit, and Rimuru unites them with the goblins, bringing peace to the village.
As a show of gratitude, the goblins invite Rimuru to stay as their leader. Rimuru helps them organize and build a stronger, safer village. In the process, he learns that monsters can gain strength and evolve if given a name. Rimuru names the goblins, starting with the chief, who becomesRigur, and his son,Rigurd. He also names the Direwolf leader’s son,Ranga, who becomes Rimuru’s loyal companion.
Naming so many creatures drains Rimuru’s magic, forcing him into a deep sleep. When he awakens, he discovers that all the goblins and wolves have evolved into stronger, more capable versions of themselves. Under Rimuru’s guidance, they begin building homes, gathering resources, and creating a thriving community.
The Journey to Forge New Allies
Rimuru’s next goal is to strengthen the village further, so he sets out to find skilled craftsmen. Along the way, he meets the dwarves, including the blacksmith Kaijin. Kaijin is struggling to fulfill an order of swords due to a lack of materials. Rimuru helps him by providing rare ores he collected in the cave, and even duplicates the swords using hisPredatorskill. In gratitude, Kaijin and his brothers decide to follow Rimuru back to his village to help him build and develop it.
On his journey, Rimuru also encounters adventurers, includingShizu Izawa, a human who was summoned to this world and harbors a powerful fire spirit named Ifrit. Rimuru learns about Shizu’s tragic past, and after a fierce battle, he manages to defeat Ifrit. Unfortunately, Shizu’s body cannot survive without the spirit, and she dies soon after. Before her death, Shizu asks Rimuru to help her students and consume her body, granting him her abilities and allowing him to transform into a human form resembling her.
Forest Disturbance Arc
Back in the forest, Rimuru faces new challenges when a group of ogres mistakenly believe he is responsible for a recent orc attack on their village. They confront him, but after a heated battle, the misunderstanding is cleared up. Rimuru offers the ogres a place in his village, and they accept, becoming powerful allies in the process.
With each new encounter, Rimuru’s influence grows. He gains more allies, abilities, and knowledge, slowly building his village into the powerful nation ofTempest. Through his leadership, Rimuru brings together different races, fostering unity and peace while preparing for the greater challenges that lie ahead.
Personality
Rimuru Tempest is known for his kind heart and quirky personality. Though he is generally laid-back and prefers to avoid unnecessary conflict or troublesome situations, when it comes to handling responsibilities, he is surprisingly diligent and hardworking. His approach to work reflects his past life as a salaryman, where he was a reliable and supportive colleague. This sense of responsibility, however, makes it difficult for him to turn down requests for help, often leading to him taking on more than he can handle—a trait that used to get him reprimanded by his former boss.
In his reincarnated form, Rimuru still carries some of his awkward social tendencies from his human life. He often considers himself a “KY” person (short for Kuuki Yomenai, or someone who can’t read the mood) and is known to crack jokes at inappropriate times, adding a humorous layer to his personality.
Despite his easy-going nature, Rimuru reacts intensely when his loved ones or country are in danger. Whether it’s his subordinates, his nation, his close friends, or even the students he mentors, Rimuru shows unwavering loyalty and a deep sense of care for those under his protection. This strong emotional response, often seen as overreacting, highlights his compassionate nature and stands in stark contrast to his usual cheerful and relaxed demeanor.
Other Demon Lords see him as cautious and cunning, unaware that these traits are merely his efforts to keep situations from spiraling out of control. As the story progresses, Rimuru begins to mature into his role as a Demon Lord. He becomes more comfortable with delegating tasks to his capable subordinates, learning to trust their strength instead of rushing in to handle everything on his own. This gradual shift reflects Rimuru’s growing wisdom and understanding of the world around him.
Powers and Abilities
Due to his final thoughts as Satoru Mikami, Rimuru was blessed with numerous advantages in his new life, granted by the Voice of the World. Upon his evolution to Demon Lord, Rimuru’s magic amplified tenfold.
