Rak Wraithraiser

Rak Wraithraiser (라크 레크레이셔, Rahk Rekraisher; also romanized as Rac Wreckraiser) is a C-rank Regular in Tower of God and a member of the Wraithraiser species. His designated position is Spear Bearer, and he is identified as a direct descendant of the Native One.

Rak is originally introduced as a giant-sized creature. However, after mocking the Ranker Yu Han Sung, the Test Director of the Second Floor, he was forcibly reduced in size. Over time, he learned how to return to his original form, becoming one of the few known users of a Compression Licenser.

Of course… A game without me… IS A GAME NOT WORTH WINNING!!!

Appearance

Rak Wraithraiser is depicted as a large, alligator-like humanoid with grey skin and a heavily muscular build. His head resembles that of an alligator, distinguished by spikes protruding from the back. Standing at approximately 15 feet (5 meters) in height, Rak typically wears red armor with a matching cape, though he has also been seen in more casual clothing, such as a blue T-shirt. His primary weapon is a massive red spear, complementing his role as a Spear Bearer.

During the Hide-and-Seek game, Rak’s body was forcibly reduced in size by Yu Han Sung, the Test Director of the Second Floor, shrinking him to about 3–4 feet tall. Though he occasionally returned to his normal form during tests, it was later revealed that only individuals with the Guardian’s authorization could alter a person’s size. Eventually, Rak acquired the ability to regulate his stature himself by becoming a Compression Licenser, enabling him to shrink at will to navigate the Tower more effectively.

Personality

Rak Wraithraiser is portrayed as brash and overconfident, often declaring his superiority over others by referring to them as “turtles.” At times, he even calls himself “Rakleader,” a title he adopts when particularly boastful, though Khun’s encouragement of his ego is partly responsible for this habit. Despite his tough and aggressive demeanor, Rak frequently reveals a softer side, showing genuine concern for his companions, such as when he worried about Baam after the latter was seriously injured during the Crown Game.

Although not known for his intelligence, Rak occasionally demonstrates surprising perceptiveness. He was one of the few who immediately recognized that Khun’s apparent rejection of Baam before the Second Floor’s final test was a ruse designed to rally support, and he played along with the strategy without hesitation. This ability to grasp key moments reveals that, beneath his bluster, Rak possesses both instinct and loyalty that strengthen his role within the team.

History

Little is revealed about Rak Wraithraiser’s past prior to his appearance in the Tower. Based on his personality and combat skills, it is speculated that he originates from a warrior lineage within the Wraithraiser species. His motivation for climbing the Tower has been described as a search for “something that surpasses all others,” suggesting a personal quest tied to his pride as a hunter and warrior.

Abilities

Rak Wraithraiser’s abilities have not been explicitly ranked against other Regulars, but his feats indicate that he is considerably stronger than the average E-rank Regular. During the Workshop Battle, he was valued at 150,000 points in the Development Tournament, the same as Yeon Yihwa and higher than Quaetro Blitz despite participating in earlier rounds in his compressed form, which limited his physical power.

Immense Strength
Rak possesses exceptional physical strength, disproportionate even to his massive size. He is capable of hurling spears across great distances and overpowering multiple Regulars simultaneously. During the Last Examination, he leapt from a tall cliff while carrying Parakewl, landed directly on a Giant Worm, and emerged unscathed, demonstrating his durability as well as his raw power.

Spear Mastery
As a Spear Bearer, Rak wields his massive spear with great proficiency at both long and close range. He has displayed pinpoint accuracy, such as when he struck a sniper rifle out of an opponent’s hands from across the Crown Game arena. In close combat, his speed and strength make him formidable, to the point that even Khun could only exploit openings when Rak was distracted.

Hunting Intuition
Rak has an instinctive ability to sense powerful opponents and legendary weapons, including the 13 Month Series weapons Green April and Black March.

High Shinsu Resistance
Rak demonstrates significant resistance to dense Shinsu environments. It is noted that he previously swam through Shinsu to hunt, a feat that would overwhelm most Regulars.

Compression Licenser
After being forcibly reduced in size by Yu Han Sung, Rak later acquired the ability to regulate his stature at will by becoming a Compression Licenser. This allows him to shrink his massive form for greater mobility within the Tower while retaining his combat potential.

Relationships

Twenty-Fifth Baam
Rak initially regarded Baam as “prey,” drawn to the power he sensed from the Black March. Over time, this perception evolved into a close bond, though Rak continues the playful pretense of hunting him. In Part II, his deep care for Baam becomes evident when they reunite. Upon confirming that Viole’s true identity was Baam, Rak embraced him with tears, vowing never to let him go and expressing anger toward those responsible for Baam’s suffering. Even when Baam urged him to leave before his team discovered them, Rak remained resolute until Androssi intervened.

Khun Aguero Agnis
Rak considers both Khun and Baam his “underlings,” though he demonstrates genuine insight into Khun’s personality, once describing his heart as “pitch black” and suited only for deception. Despite such remarks, Rak fully trusts Khun’s intelligence and strategies. By Part II, their friendship has matured significantly, with Rak expressing joy at the prospect of climbing the Tower once again alongside Baam and Khun, as they had in earlier days.

Akryung
On the Floor of Test, Rak developed a one-sided rivalry with Akryung, which motivated him to excel in the spear-throwing test and advance past the Hide-and-Seek game. Though he attempted to befriend the giant, Akryung largely ignored him.

Parakewl
Rak accompanied Parakewl in climbing the Tower up to the 30th Floor. He often dismissed Parakewl as useless, particularly after his interference in the battle between Anak and Ran. Nevertheless, Parakewl managed to regain some of Rak’s acknowledgment when he distracted Baam at a critical moment.

Yeon Yihwa
Rak first encountered Yeon Yihwa during the Workshop Battle, where she mistook him for a dinosaur and accidentally scorched him while attempting to calm him. Rak nicknamed her a “cat-like turtle” and later, humorously, “Angolan Demon Lord/King,” or simply “Angolan.” Despite his initial annoyance at her persistence, he gradually came to respect her abilities. They fought side by side in multiple battles, including against Paul and Macha from Team Snake and later against Arie Inieta at the Name Hunt Station. During these encounters, Rak acknowledged Yihwa’s flames as stronger than lava and demonstrated concern for her well-being when she was injured. Though he often insists on being the leader, his willingness to let Yihwa fight alongside him reflects his trust in her strength and value as a teammate.

Trivia

    • Rak’s stated motivation for climbing the Tower is to find “something that transcends all things,” beyond wealth, glory, authority, or revenge.
    • According to SIU, “Wraithraiser” is the name of Rak’s species. They inhabit a place where only turtles and their kind exist, leading them to hunt and eat turtles. This background explains why Rak refers to nearly everyone as a “turtle.”

    • Rak has a fondness for bananas, though he struggles to peel them. He also harbors a comical grudge against Quaetro Blitz for burning his bananas simply because they were yellow.

    • Rak’s miniature form was first teased in Best Challenge shortly after the Crown Game and was later incorporated into the main webtoon storyline.
    • SIU has described Rak as a character who is convenient to write, since he does not conceal his feelings or overthink situations. However, SIU also noted that Rak’s larger form is more difficult to draw.
    • Rak’s birthday is celebrated on July 7.
