Appearance
Priscilla Barielle’s long orange hair shone radiantly like the sun and flowed through a single barrette before cascading down her back. Her crimson eyes reflected a strong will that matched her commanding personality. She had pale skin, faintly pink lips, and was considered a woman of true divine beauty. Her dainty figure featured graceful curves and bountiful proportions. Standing at 164 centimeters, she shared the same height as Emilia.
Priscilla dressed in exquisite clothing that matched the crimson color of her eyes. Her most common attire was an elegant black and red aristocratic dress with off-the-shoulder sleeves, a wide-hemmed heel-length skirt, and a black petticoat. A large black ribbon with red stripes adorned her right waist, while a black floral ornament with red edging and emerald jewels decorated the other side. The dress was backless and embellished with emeralds fastened to the skirt. Underneath, she wore translucent reddish-brown stockings with black bands at the top, a black choker, red high heels, and long black fingerless gloves. Her middle fingers each bore an emerald ring, and teardrop-shaped earrings of the same color hung from her ears. She often carried a crimson folding fan claimed from a fallen half-sister. Inside her mansion, Priscilla wore a red outfit that accentuated her figure, complete with a small coat tied with a black bow, a black hair clip for her ponytail, and black stud earrings. She kept her fan tucked between her breasts.
Personality
Priscilla was an arrogant, proud, and self-assured woman who believed the world existed for her comfort. She often claimed that the events around her always worked in her favor. She categorized people based on her interest in them, and if someone failed to catch her attention, she would forget their name and disregard them entirely, as she did with Subaru only days after meeting him. Her greatest enemy was boredom, and much of what she did was to escape it. She frequently struck or ordered Al around simply for her amusement and had no hesitation in placing herself in situations most would consider unthinkable, such as leading a dangerous expedition out of sheer curiosity.
Priscilla carried herself with complete confidence, certain that she would always emerge victorious. She showed no fear in battle and demonstrated great skill in fighting and self-defense. She remained unshaken even when facing Sirius, encountering zombies within her territory, or pursuing thieves who had stolen from her domain. Despite her reputation as a widow, Priscilla seemed entirely indifferent to it and even dismissed her late husband, Leip Barielle, as an old pervert. During the Royal Selection Ceremony, she boldly declared that under her rule, everyone would achieve their desires. According to Aldebaran, she was volatile and extremely dangerous when angered. Though self-centered, she respected individuals who held onto their pride, as shown in her conversation with Felt, where she offered her an easy escape that Felt proudly refused.
Abilities
Priscilla possessed the Divine Protection of the Sun, which granted her greater power during the day and enhanced the effects of buffs. She was also the wielder of the Soul Marriage Technique, a forgotten art from the old world that allowed her to divide her own Od and bestow it upon someone she loved—and who loved her in return. This technique granted the recipient power reflective of her own and an incredible ability to heal from fatal wounds within moments. Priscilla used this power to protect Schult during the Flying Dragon Cataclysm in Guaral and to free Liliana from Sirius’s Soulwashing in Priestella. Her Soul Marriage could even affect entire populations, extending to everyone in Lupugana and Garkla during the Conquest of the Undead Capital. The technique also allowed her to use loved items, such as jewelry given by her past husbands, as protective charms capable of absorbing lethal damage in her place.
As a member of the Vollachian Imperial Family, Priscilla could summon the Yang Sword Vollachia, a radiant crimson blade that shone like the sun. The sword consumed large amounts of mana, prompting her to dissipate it when not in use. Its flames could incinerate anything upon contact, even water, and its slashes only harmed intended targets, as shown when she purified villagers by burning away parasites without injuring them. Though the sword possessed a will of its own, sometimes disobeying her, its power remained devastating. Priscilla also wielded her crimson fan, taken from Lamia, as a weapon capable of slicing through flesh with ease. In addition, she commanded a private army known as the Red Plates and was a skilled user of Yang Magic. Her spell, Akra, enveloped targets in golden light that strengthened their bodies while increasing their sensitivity to pain. With extraordinary luck that she claimed made the world itself favor her, Priscilla always acted with unshakable confidence, believing every decision she made would lead to victory.
History
Priscilla Barielle, born Prisca Benedict, was the daughter of Emperor Drizen Vollachia and Sandra Benedict. After witnessing her father’s death by the Yang Sword, she participated in the Imperial Selection Ceremony at age twelve, where she slew her half-sister Lamia Godwin and other contenders. Betrayed by her foster sister Arakiya, Prisca faked her death and escaped the empire, taking the name Priscilla, one of her deceased doubles. She later married her first husband, Jorah Pendleton, but after his execution, she was smuggled out of Vollachia to Lugunica, where she became known as the “Bloody Bride” due to the mysterious deaths of her six subsequent husbands.
In Lugunica, Priscilla married Leip Barielle, a baron who sought to use her status for political gain. After his death, Priscilla became the ruling lady of the Barielle Barony and transformed the impoverished region into a prosperous land through her leadership. She took in a poor orphan named Schult, treating him as her attendant, and selected the eccentric warrior Al (Aldebaran) as her knight during a tournament organized by Leip. Together with her loyal followers, Priscilla participated in the Royal Selection, displaying her unmatched confidence and charisma, believing that the world itself bends to her favor.
A wielder of the Yang Sword Vollachia and possessor of divine protection, Priscilla demonstrated extraordinary abilities in battle and leadership. She later led her private army, the Red Plates, against undead outbreaks and political threats while maintaining her ambition to seize the throne. Despite her ruthless, proud demeanor, Priscilla’s strength, beauty, and radiant will made her a living embodiment of the sun, an empress destined to rule both by divine right and overwhelming presence.
