Princess Emeraude

Princess Emeraude is the benevolent and divine ruler of Cephiro, revered by all its people as both queen and goddess. Her presence ensures harmony and stability throughout the land, as Cephiro’s very existence depends on the strength of her will and the purity of her heart. She embodies grace, compassion, and serenity, inspiring the unwavering faith of her subjects.

It was Princess Emeraude who first summoned Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki, and Fuu Hououji to Cephiro, calling upon them to fulfill their destiny as the legendary Magic Knights. Her summoning set in motion the events that would shape Cephiro’s fate, as the three girls embarked on a journey filled with trials, self-discovery, and the ultimate revelation of the princess’s tragic secret.

Princess Emeraude

Appearance

Princess Emeraude is a radiant young woman with long, flowing blonde hair that reaches the ground, bright blue eyes, and a gentle presence that embodies purity and grace. She is often seen wearing a white dress adorned with a golden tiara crowned by a green orb, symbolizing her divine connection to Cephiro. Her delicate beauty and serene demeanor reflect her role as the benevolent Pillar, whose will sustains the peace and harmony of the realm. Every gesture and word she speaks exudes kindness, compassion, and an almost otherworldly innocence.

However, after the death of Zagato, the man she secretly loves. Emeraude’s appearance and spirit undergo a dramatic transformation. Consumed by grief, rage, and despair, she evolves into a more mature and menacing form, her once-soft expression now shadowed by fury and sorrow. In this state, she shatters her own imprisonment, her divine aura replaced by a haunting power born from anguish. This dark transformation serves as a tragic reflection of her inner torment, revealing the pain of a goddess torn between duty and forbidden love.

In the middle of the fight, the true purpose of their summoning is revealed. Emeraude’s love for Zagato had prevented her from upholding her duty to pray for Cephiro.

Aside from her divine powers of meditation and prayer as the Pillar, Princess Emeraude possessed incredible magical abilities that reflected her role as Cephiro’s strongest being. She was able to project her spirit in a nonphysical form, as seen when she appeared before the Magic Knights at the Spring of Eterna. Her healing power was also notable, demonstrated when she mended Zagato’s wounds with a small sphere of light. During her battle against the Magic Knights, Emeraude revealed the full extent of her strength, summoning her own Rune God and unleashing devastating energy blasts capable of destroying Zagato’s castle in a single strike. Her fury tore apart the skies and the land itself, shattering the stability of Cephiro through sheer emotion. Even Rayearth acknowledged her might, declaring her incomparably stronger than anyone else.

Even after death, Emeraude’s power did not fade. Her spirit retained its divine strength, capable of repelling Debonair’s darkness and obliterating endless waves of regenerating monsters with a brilliant surge of light from her tiara. The radiance of her power illuminated all of Cephiro, stunning even her enemies. Debonair cursed her for this act, admitting that Emeraude’s light not only banished her but also weakened her powers. Beyond her immense magical force, Emeraude used her spirit to share her story with Hikaru and Eagle, showing them her life, her love, and her tragic fate as the Pillar who was slain for falling in love. Through these visions, she sought to ensure that the next Pillar would understand the sacrifices her role demanded and that her sorrowful tale would never be repeated.
