Priestess (女神官, Onna Shinkan) is the main female protagonist of the light novel, manga, and anime series Goblin Slayer. A young and inexperienced adventurer at the beginning of the story, she narrowly survives her first quest after being rescued by Goblin Slayer. Following this event, she becomes the first official member of his party and regularly accompanies him on various missions, serving as the group’s primary healer and a supportive combatant.
Personality

Appearance in Anime
Priestess is gentle, compassionate, and quick to form bonds with others, though she initially displays a degree of shyness. Often described as delicate and frail in appearance, she is prone to blushing and tearing up when distressed particularly when confronted with Goblin Slayer’s blunt or callous remarks. Despite this, she is capable of maintaining a level of assertiveness even when visibly emotional.
Her passive nature can make her emotionally vulnerable in extreme, life-threatening situations. This was evident during her first adventure, when the slaughter of her party left her paralyzed with fear, and again when her current companions faced a similar fate in the catacombs of Water Town.
Priestess occasionally experiences moral conflict regarding the use of her divine miracles under Goblin Slayer’s guidance, as his pragmatic and often brutal strategies contrast with the intended protective nature of her blessings. These doubts are amplified upon returning to the temple and receiving additional miracles, prompting her to question why the Earth Mother would bestow such gifts if they were to be used in ways that seemed contradictory to their purpose.
Appearance
Priestess is a young woman with long blonde hair tied back into a small ponytail with a blue ribbon, leaving two chest-length strands framing her face. She has blue eyes and a gentle, youthful appearance.
Her usual attire consists of white priestly robes layered over blue garments, both trimmed with gold accents. She carries a golden staff adorned with blue jewels, symbolizing her role as a cleric of the Earth Mother. Beneath her robes, she wears concealed chainmail for protection during adventuring.
Background
Priestess was raised in a temple dedicated to the Earth Mother, where she received formal clerical training and learned the use of divine miracles. Upon turning fifteen, she left the temple to become an adventurer, seeking to help others and put her abilities to practical use.
Her first adventure was a goblin extermination quest undertaken with a group of rookie adventurers. Lacking combat experience and a proper understanding of the danger posed by goblins, the party was quickly overwhelmed, resulting in the brutal deaths of her companions. Priestess herself was nearly killed before being rescued by Goblin Slayer, who dispatched the remaining goblins and escorted her to safety.
Following this traumatic event, she chose to join Goblin Slayer as the first member of his party, assisting him in numerous quests. Over time, her experiences alongside him and other allies such as High Elf Archer, Dwarf Shaman, and Lizard Priest have significantly improved her combat skills, resilience, and confidence as both a healer and an adventurer.
Abilities
Divine Miracles
As a cleric of the Earth Mother, Priestess specializes in defensive and supportive miracles. She has been noted to possess more miracles than is typical for someone her age. Her repertoire includes Minor Heal, Protection, Silence, Holy Light, Purify, and Sanctuary. However, she is limited to casting only three miracles per day.
Adaptive Use of Miracles
Traveling with Goblin Slayer has taught Priestess unconventional applications of her miracles, enabling her to contribute more effectively in combat situations.
Tactical Thinking
Under Goblin Slayer’s mentorship, she has developed into a resourceful and strategic adventurer, capable of exploiting enemy weaknesses to overcome more powerful foes. Her party members have remarked that her growing tactical sense is reminiscent of Goblin Slayer himself.
Equipment
Sounding Staff
A ceremonial staff used to channel and cast her divine miracles.
Chainmail Armor
Purchased on Goblin Slayer’s advice following her first encounter with goblins. Priestess treasures the armor as the first piece of equipment that earned her his praise.
Sling
Occasionally used as a ranged weapon, though she is still developing proficiency with it.
Flail
Originally carried as a ceremonial item during the Harvest Festival, later used to cast miracles in battle against the Dark Elf. Priestess admits it is not her preferred weapon, as she injured herself multiple times while training with it.
