Appearance
Power’s full apperance in Fiend form.
Fiend Form
Power inhabits the body of an unidentified woman or young girl with long hair, which she typically wears blonde. In manga illustrations, her hair color varies from blonde to shades of pink, sometimes even appearing as a dirty blonde, while in the anime it shows as strawberry blonde. As a Fiend, her eyes have a unique cross-shaped pattern in red and yellow, and she sports sharp, fang-like teeth along with light red horns protruding from her head. When she accumulates an excess of blood, her horns enlarge, curving more prominently, and additional horn pairs may sprout from the sides of her head.
Her usual attire includes the standard dress shirt, tie, and slacks typical for Public Safety Devil Hunters, although she often wears breast pads to give her bust a fuller appearance. Power has a habit of letting her jacket hang halfway off her shoulders, giving her a disheveled, casually half-dressed look.
Power’ Devil form.
Devil Form
In her Blood Devil form, Power takes on a more imposing, tall humanoid appearance with four arms and a primarily pale-skinned body. Her head is pointed and red, with sharp, bared teeth and round eyes featuring cross-shaped pupils. Long horns extend from her head, similar to the appearance she takes on in Fiend form when overfilled with blood, and her hair is longer in this form. Her chest features an exposed rib cage with visible intestines reaching up to her neck. Her arms from the elbows down are red, ending in large claws and four-fingered hands. Her legs also bear red coloration from mid-thigh to the heel-like feet, and she has a tail reminiscent of a cat’s.
Personality
Power exhibits a highly self-centered, impulsive, and often reckless personality. She is childish, driven by her own desires, and tends to act only if there is a direct benefit to her. Confident in her abilities, she fights with bravado when she senses a win, but has no qualms about fleeing if she finds herself at a disadvantage. Her pride as a Fiend makes her eager to assert superiority over her fellow Devil Hunters, but she shows little loyalty to either humans or Devils, readily declaring that she would side with whoever is likely to win. Power thrives on the thrill of combat, always eager to display her strength and prove herself. In one instance, facing a horde of zombies, she enthusiastically boasted to Denji about her ability to defeat them single-handedly.
Power’s behavior is highly egotistical, often overstating her capabilities only to abandon tasks when they become challenging. She frequently shifts the blame for her mistakes onto others, avoiding responsibility by deflecting consequences onto her teammates. Additionally, she is a compulsive liar, as shown when she avoided trouble with Makima by falsely accusing Denji of telling her to kill a Devil without permission. She even went so far as to blame Denji for consuming all the emergency food, despite clear evidence to the contrary.
In terms of social manners, Power is unapologetically rude and disorganized. She expects others to manage her messes and scoffs at basic hygiene practices, admitting to seldom bathing or flushing the toilet and mocking humans for their concerns about cleanliness. Her messy habits extend to her general lifestyle, including her unapologetic approach to food—she has no moral boundaries around eating different kinds of meat, treating pork, beef, and even human flesh as equally acceptable, despite their origin or quality. Known for her gluttonous appetite, she once consumed all the food necessary for her team’s survival and even hoarded food during a welcome party, prioritizing her own hunger over others.
Power also has a peculiar imagination, often fantasizing about ways to make humans submit to her. When she and her group were trapped in a hotel by the Eternity Devil, she spent her time crafting ambitious plans to win a Nobel Prize and rise to the position of Prime Minister of Japan, where she imagined raising taxes to extreme levels purely to make people suffer.
At times, Power can be insensitive toward others’ privacy or feelings, gossiping about her friends behind their backs. For instance, she casually disclosed the Angel Devil’s secret about Aki’s shortened lifespan. Her insatiable appetite also drives her to be possessive with food, and when Aki once asked her about a potential reward, she eagerly expressed a desire to drink human blood until her victim’s death. The thought of drinking Denji’s blood filled her with delight.
However, despite her largely self-serving tendencies, Power has shown moments of vulnerability and even compassion. Following a traumatic encounter with the Darkness Devil, she developed severe PTSD, becoming fearful of being left alone and needing constant support from Aki and Denji to help her with basic needs like eating, bathing, and sleeping. This trauma revealed a more dependent and fragile side of her.
While selfish, Power’s compassion was first stirred by her pet cat, Meowy, marking the beginning of her capacity to care for others. Once motivated purely by the sensory thrill of blood and death, she took decisive action to rescue Meowy when it was taken. Over time, she also developed bonds with close friends, such as Denji, going so far as to get him a birthday cake and ultimately risking her life to protect him from harm. This loyalty grew so strong that, despite her instincts, she sacrificed her own safety to save Denji from Makima, ultimately giving her life for his. This act highlighted a depth to her character, demonstrating her ability to care for others beyond herself.
Relationships
Meowy
Although Power initially cared for Meowy with the intent of fattening her up to eventually eat, her feelings for the cat grew deeply affectionate. She formed a strong bond with Meowy, demonstrating her devotion by being willing to sacrifice Denji’s life to save her pet from the Bat Devil. When Power believed Meowy had died after being consumed by the Bat Devil, she became visibly distraught and allowed herself to be eaten as well, sharing a rare moment of empathy with Denji in her grief.
Denji
Power and Denji’s relationship began on shaky ground, with Power initially deceiving Denji and being prepared to sacrifice him to the Bat Devil for Meowy’s sake. However, after Denji saves both her and Meowy, the two begin living together at Aki Hayakawa’s home and gradually develop a more friendly bond. Though they often bicker and clash, they also form a strong connection, frequently teaming up to prank or annoy Aki. Over time, Power’s affection for Denji grows significantly, ultimately leading her to defy Makima’s orders and risk her life to protect him. She views Denji as her first true friend, holding him in high regard. Makima even notes that Power took on a sisterly role for Denji, with their interactions often resembling sibling rivalry.
Aki Hayakawa
After joining Public Safety, Power moves into Aki’s home, much to his frustration. Aki is often exasperated by Power’s chaotic and rude behavior, and Power seems to enjoy provoking him. However, despite the frequent conflicts, Power comes to care for Aki over time and shows sadness after his transformation into the Gun Fiend. Their relationship resembles that of a reluctant older brother and a mischievous younger sister, with Power’s antics often leaving Aki to clean up the aftermath.
Makima
Power harbors a deep-seated fear of Makima, largely due to Makima’s powerful and commanding presence as the Control Devil. Despite Power’s bold personality, Makima’s calm and authoritative demeanor keeps her in check. At one point, Makima offers Power the chance to become her “pet” again in exchange for Chainsaw Man, instantly turning Power’s fear into excitement. However, Makima’s manipulative and unfeeling nature ultimately leads her to kill Power without remorse, ending their complex dynamic in cold finality.
Abilities
Power’s abilities as the Blood Fiend give her unique powers and a formidable skill set that make her both a valuable ally and a dangerous opponent. As a Fiend, Power wields powerful blood-based abilities and displays enhanced strength, agility, and other attributes far surpassing human limits. Her talents are a mix of physical prowess and devilish supernatural abilities, allowing her to manipulate blood in various creative and deadly ways.
Physical Abilities
-
Enhanced Strength: Power possesses exceptional physical strength. She can wield massive, blood-forged weapons like her hammer and can even kill large creatures, such as a bear, with ease. Her strength also allows her to destroy other Devils in a single blow, as seen with the Sea Cucumber Devil.
-
Enhanced Speed: Power’s quick reflexes and agility make her a difficult target to track in battle. She can evade attacks and strike with precision, capable of surprising her opponents by dodging attacks and quickly closing the distance for a counterattack.
Devil Powers
-
Blood Manipulation: Power’s primary ability allows her to control the blood within her own body, shaping it into weapons. She can also manipulate others’ blood upon direct contact, using this skill to prevent excessive blood loss or distort an enemy’s regenerative abilities by introducing her blood into their system.
-
Blood Hammer: Power can manifest a gigantic hammer from her blood, often her preferred weapon to crush enemies. She can also create smaller versions of this hammer for lighter attacks.
-
Blood Knife: For more precise strikes, Power can form small, sharp blades from her blood, often dual-wielding them for quick and brutal attacks.
-
Blood Spear: Power can craft a spear from her blood, which she uses to impale her targets. She can also create blood spears from hidden bottles filled with her blood placed around an area, allowing her to surprise her opponents by conjuring these spears from unexpected locations.
-
Blood Scythe: Power can form a scythe out of her blood, wielding it to slash through enemies in close combat.
-
Thousand Tera Blood Rain (サウザンドテラブラッドレインSauzando Tera Buraddo Rein): In her Full Devil form, Power unleashes a devastating attack, creating and levitating thousands of blood-based swords and spears to rain down upon her enemies. This ability is powerful enough to momentarily stall even Makima.
-
-
Blood Transfer: Through a contract, Power can transfer her own blood to another being, effectively healing and empowering them. She used this technique to save Denji, offering her blood as a way to regenerate his body. This ability is similar to the method Pochita used to revive Denji in the past.
-
Blood Empowerment: As a Fiend, Power can restore her health by consuming blood. Drinking from stronger Devils significantly boosts her power, causing her to grow additional horns and drastically increase her physical abilities. After drinking Chainsaw Man’s blood, Power was able to regenerate even from minimal blood, returning stronger than before and resisting Makima’s control over her.
Skillset
- Acting Skills: Power is capable of rudimentary acting, as seen when she faked her own death to deceive Quanxi. Although not an expert, her ability to play dead or trick opponents adds an element of unpredictability to her persona.
Other Abilities
- Enhanced Smell: Power has a heightened sense of smell, allowing her to detect blood from afar. She can track specific individuals by scent alone, recognizing Aki’s scent even from behind a closed door. This ability is particularly useful for tracking Devils and sensing danger nearby.
Power’s varied abilities and impulsive nature make her a volatile but valuable member of Makima’s special squad. With her blood manipulation techniques, enhanced physical prowess, and surprising intelligence, Power demonstrates formidable combat abilities and unpredictable tactics, creating a distinctive and memorable presence among the Devil Hunters.
