ÖVB Arena, originally known as the Stadthalle Bremen and previously named Bremen-Arena and AWD-Dome, stands as the largest indoor arena in Bremen, Germany. This versatile venue hosts a variety of events, including concerts, sports competitions, and trade fairs, making it a central hub for entertainment and gatherings in the region.

The arena was designed and built by the Austrian architect Roland Rainer in the years 1961 to 1964.

The transition from Stadthalle Bremen to AWD-Dome occurred when the financial services provider Allgemeiner Wirtschaftsdienst (AWD) secured naming rights in January 2005. Despite its name, the AWD-Dome is not actually a dome; the term “Dome” may have been chosen due to the existence of an AWD-Arena in Hannover. Alongside the renaming, a substantial €50 million investment was made to modernize and expand the venue, increasing its seating capacity from 3,500 to 14,500 seats. Architect Thomas Klumpp spearheaded these renovations. After AWD ended its sponsorship at the close of 2009, the venue was renamed Bremen-Arena effective January 1, 2010. Finally, on September 11, 2011, the arena adopted its current name, the ÖVB Arena.

The Six Days of Bremen are a yearly event in January, held here since 1965.

On 12 March 1999, American rock band KISS played the venue on their Psycho Circus Tour. The local fire marshal banned the use of any pyrotechnics. But at the end of the show, KISS blew up a concert worth of pyro all at once. After that incident, KISS were banned from playing Bremen in the future.

The AWD-Dome had been used in the 2007 World Men’s Handball Championship.

Depeche Mode performed at the stadium two times: the first one was on November 1, 2009 during their Tour of the Universe. The second one was on December 3, 2013 during their Delta Machine Tour, in front of a sold out crowd of 11,949 people.
