Olto Zora

Olto Zora (オルト・ゾラ, Oruto Zora) was a Bloodline Dragon who held the 6th rank within the Winged Bloodline. Prior to his allegiance to the Winged Bloodline, Olto Zora, alongside Taratectora, served under Princess Raksha as part of the Solarians, a faction dedicated to their own cause before their eventual involvement in the greater conflict.

Personality

Appearance in Anime

Olto Zora is known for his effeminate and affectionate demeanor, particularly towards Ultimatia and Taratectora, whom he addresses casually—referring to Ultimatia as “Tia” and Taratectora as “Tara-chan,” much to the latter’s irritation. Despite his outwardly playful and somewhat flamboyant nature, Olto Zora is an exceptionally cruel, ruthless, and highly strategic tactician, renowned for his merciless and inhuman tactics in battle. He has no moral objections to using any resource at his disposal, treating both humans and dragons as mere pawns in his schemes.

One of Olto Zora’s most infamous methods involves chemical synthesis, a unique ability he employs to conduct unethical experiments on his own subordinates. He is known to deliberately drug his own men, either to manipulate them into compliance or to drive them into insanity, granting them immense power at the cost of their lives. He also utilizes hypnosis to turn human hostages into cannon fodder, furthering his psychological warfare tactics. His cold-blooded pragmatism in battle cements his reputation as a dangerously intelligent and calculating strategist. However, this also serves as his greatest weakness, as his highly predictable methodology allowed Crimson to anticipate and counter his tactics.

Despite his long tenure as Ultimatia’s lieutenant, Olto Zora retains remnants of his former human self, as his original consciousness never fully accepted serving the dragons he once swore vengeance upon. His current personality exists as an alter ego, concealing the inner conflict between his past and present selves. This internal struggle becomes particularly evident during the battle against the Lese forces, where Starlia Lese’s bravery and radiance trigger his buried human memories, causing him to momentarily envision Raksha in Starlia’s place. This vision leads him to act against his current nature compulsively lying to Taratectora about Starlia’s location, despite being fully aware of the deception. Overwhelmed by this emotional turmoil, he experiences a temporary lapse in focus, only snapping back to reality when Taratectora contacts him.

Regardless of his conflicting identities, Olto Zora holds deep respect and loyalty towards Taratectora, and the two form a deadly duo on the battlefield. Their partnership is one of mutual trust and lethal efficiency, making them a formidable force in combat. However, his internal struggle ultimately proves costly, as his momentary hesitation and confusion inadvertently result in Taratectora suffering fatal injuries an event that plunges Olto Zora into despair.

Appearance

Olto Zora is a tall and slender male with effeminate features, giving him a distinct and somewhat androgynous appearance. He has long, black hair that extends down to his knees, with shorter, trimmed frontal bangs framing his face. His red eyes, pointed ears, and elongated purple nails contribute to his enigmatic and otherworldly presence. He also wears purplestick, further enhancing his striking look.

His attire consists of a long, flowing black robe that conceals most of his body, adorned with golden accessories across his chest, along with two golden bracelets on his wrists. He also wears a ring on his left hand, adding to his regal yet ominous aesthetic.

Though he is often seen wearing glasses, Olto Zora discards them when embracing his draconian form, undergoing a monstrous transformation. In this state, his head becomes enveloped in a dark mass, and multiple sets of eyes with red sclera emerge across his face. These additional eyes can also extend across his body when necessary, manifesting even on his robes, giving him a terrifying and surreal appearance.

Biography

Olto Zora, alongside Taratectora, launches an assault on the Argentum Corps’ base, utilizing a combination of dragons including matured ones and human soldiers under the influence of his experimental drugs. His strategy aims to destabilize the enemy’s morale, leveraging his unique sensory augmentation ability to monitor the battlefield in real time. By allowing his blood to flow throughout the area, he extends his sensory organs across the terrain, granting him unparalleled intelligence-gathering capabilities without the enemy’s awareness. Despite his meticulous planning, the Argentum Corps manage to resist his assault, thanks to Crimson’s prior knowledge of his tactics.

As the battle intensifies, Olto Zora finds himself overwhelmed and nearly defeated. However, an unintended intervention from Borgius—who, in his attempt to regain strength, inadvertently drives the Creeping Forest into madness creates an opening that allows Olto Zora to escape. During this moment of chaos, the sight of Princess Starlia Lese triggers a deep psychological conflict within him. Her presence awakens dormant memories of Raksha, his former princess, leading to hesitation and inner turmoil. This emotional lapse compromises his effectiveness in battle, ultimately contributing to Taratectora’s defeat and the escape of his enemies.

Utterly devastated by his role in his friend’s downfall, Olto Zora retaliates by injecting Starlia with a lethal poison, ensuring that any of her allies who approach her will unknowingly trigger her demise. With his resolve hardened, he prepares for a final confrontation against the remaining members of the Argentum Corps. To push his abilities to their absolute limits, he self-injects with a mixture of performance-enhancing drugs, amplifying his physical and magical capabilities to 300%. This transformation drastically alters his appearance, making him far more monstrous in form. In his berserk state, he slaughters numerous opponents, including Garm, demonstrating the sheer brutality and lethality of his enhanced form.

However, as Fu gathers enough magical energy, he successfully copies Dornea’s technique, unleashing a devastating magic attack that pierces Olto Zora. This fatal strike is further made possible by Christopher’s sacrifice, which weakens him enough for the finishing blow. In his final moments, Olto Zora regains his lost memories, recalling his past as a human and a soldier before finally succumbing to his wounds.

In the epilogue of the Winged Bloodline Arc, it is revealed that, before his death, Olto Zora removed the poison from Starlia’s body and healed her injuries. As a final act of atonement, he spared her life as a form of reward to the Argentum Corps, who not only defeated him but ultimately freed him from his draconic self, allowing him to pass on with a semblance of peace.

Powers & Abilities

Olto Zora, as a Superior Dragon, possesses all the inherent abilities of a fully matured high-class dragon, granting him immense physical and magical power, self-regeneration, and the ability to manipulate fire and create lesser dragons from his own blood. He can seamlessly shift between his humanoid and full dragon form, with the latter unleashing his true strength. His destructive potential is so vast that a single Superior Dragon is powerful enough to annihilate entire armies of tens of thousands of soldiers.

As the former royal guard of Princess Raksha, alongside Taratectora, Olto Zora demonstrated remarkable combat prowess even in his humanoid form. He could effortlessly block multiple attacks from elite members of the Argentum Corps, a force composed of expert dragon hunters and the finest soldiers of the realm. His defensive abilities were particularly notable against Isaac, who had previously succeeded in destroying the barrier erected by mature dragon Nebulim. Holding the 6th seat in the Winged Bloodline, Olto Zora is significantly stronger than Dornea and Grymwelthe, and his power is described as capable of wiping out entire armies single-handedly.

In terms of speed, Olto Zora is an exceptional combatant, able to track and counter the Argentum Corps at close range. His enemies, highly trained soldiers capable of dodging bullets, were still unable to effectively outmaneuver him. His durability is equally formidable he has demonstrated resistance to silverine weapons, including Nazarena’s gauntlets and direct attacks from Garm the Bladewolf. As a Superior Dragon, he also possesses multiple layers of anti-magic resistance, making him highly resistant to specialized weaponry designed to counter dragons.

Olto Zora’s Dragonification ability allows him to transform into a much larger, monstrous form, resembling a skeletal bird of prey with four arms, both skeletal and muscular. In this state, all his physical and magical attributes are amplified by at least eight times, as noted by Crimson when discussing the power of Dragonified Disaster Thrower. Additionally, he has the ability to transmute into a much smaller crow-like creature, a form he used to escape the battlefield during the battle against the Argentum Corps while also teleporting civilians to safety. As a Superior Dragon, he has increased resistance to argentum weapons and Silverine, making him more resilient against conventional dragon-slaying tools.

One of Olto Zora’s most versatile abilities is Clone Creation, which allows him to hide his true body underground while generating perfect clones of himself. These clones are fully connected to his main body, making them highly effective decoys for deception and ambush tactics. His mastery of Chemical Synthesis Magic enables him to create various compounds from his own blood, including lethal toxins and hypnotic agents, which can be dispersed as a mist over wide areas. However, these chemicals can be countered by silver-based purification methods or evaporated under sunlight.

Olto Zora’s Hypnotic Drugs give him the ability to turn individuals into mindless pawns, forcing them into a feral, uncontrollable state under his complete command. His Poison Flame Blood allows him to breathe flames infused with his unique venom, either by transforming his arm into the head of a black viper or unleashing the flames from his hands in dragon form. Unlike ordinary fire-based attacks, these flames do not explode on impact; instead, they corrode their target until nothing remains, as seen when he obliterated one of Borgius’ Wood Dragons with this ability.

Additionally, Olto Zora can cast a Cursed Poison Spell, marking his victims with a delayed effect that triggers under specific conditions. This technique was used on Starlia, ensuring that any attempt to rescue her would activate the curse. However, despite his ruthless nature, he also possesses Regenerative and Healing Abilities, which he ultimately used to completely heal Starlia from the effects of his cursed poison a final act of atonement before his death.

In battle, Olto Zora employs Madness Control, a technique that forcibly amplifies the strength of his troops. By inducing artificial madness, he can increase their combat effectiveness by up to 200%, though their bodies inevitably crumble after ten minutes. In desperate situations, he can apply this method to himself, using a Self-Strengthening Madness Control, a concoction of drugs that increases his power by up to 300%, temporarily elevating him to the level of a serious Disaster Thrower. However, this method is considered a last resort, as it significantly deteriorates his body.

One of Olto Zora’s most unique abilities is Sight Organelles, which allows him to grow additional sensory organs wherever his blood flows. This ability grants him unparalleled real-time intelligence gathering, making it nearly impossible for enemies to operate undetected within his domain.

Beyond his supernatural abilities, Olto Zora is a master strategist, having already been a skilled military tactician before joining the Winged Bloodline. Now, he manages and directs all military affairs for the faction, using a combination of brutal tactics and psychological warfare. He has no qualms about manipulating humans against their own kind, often using hypnotized civilians as expendable soldiers. Under his command, any army becomes at least five times stronger than its actual numbers, thanks to his strategic acumen and overwhelming magical abilities.
