Nodoka’s full apperance.

Nodoka Toyohama is characterized by her wavy blonde hair, often styled in a ponytail held by a red scrunchie, and striking blue eyes. In her childhood, Nodoka’s hair was a lighter brown shade, and her eyes were a warm chocolate-brown. This change in appearance suggests that she might dye her hair and use colored contacts as part of her idol persona to align with the image of her group, Sweet Bullet.

Her typical casual attire includes a V-neck tank top. During performances with Sweet Bullet, she dons a distinctive costume: a tartan-patterned top, a jagged black skirt, grey tights with suspenders, black shoes, and a small top hat for a theatrical touch. For school, her uniform is a brown sailor-style outfit, aligning with traditional Japanese school attire.

Personality

Nodoka Toyohama is known for her confident and competitive nature, though she harbors a deep-seated inferiority complex toward her older sister, Mai. Unlike Mai, Nodoka exhibits strong tsundere traits—she can be immature, quick-tempered, and often more reactive in her emotions, particularly around Sakuta Azusagawa. Despite these tendencies and her occasional whimsy, Nodoka has a genuinely kind-hearted side, shown in her close friendship with Kaede.

She has a particular fondness for beaches, which she lacks in her hometown of Yokohama, even though it is close to the sea.

In contrast to her sister, Nodoka is notably less tidy and doesn’t clean up after herself, a habit Sakuta observes when he visits Mai’s apartment with her permission to check on Nodoka. Academically, however, she is just as capable as Mai, performing well in her studies—a trait that sets her apart from Sakuta.

Nodoka smiles brightly at Mai after being recognized as her little sister.

Nodoka Toyohama was born after her father remarried, becoming the younger half-sister of Mai Sakurajima. When she was still a child, Nodoka had the chance to meet Mai for the first time at one of Mai’s auditions, a moment she cherished, especially after Mai expressed her happiness at having a younger sister.

However, family dynamics soon introduced strain. Following her divorce, Mai’s mother forced Mai into a theater troupe as a means of retaliation against her former husband and Nodoka’s mother. In response, Nodoka’s mother also encouraged her daughter to join a performance troupe, initiating a competitive streak between the two siblings. Over time, Nodoka developed a strong sense of inferiority toward Mai, as her mother frequently compared her accomplishments to her sister’s success.

By the end of summer break in her second year of high school, Nodoka, feeling overwhelmed, had a disagreement with her parents and decided to run away to Mai’s home for solace.

Relationships

Mai Sakurajima
In her childhood, Nodoka admired Mai and looked up to her as a personal idol, hoping one day to meet her. This wish came true, but over time, her admiration turned into resentment. As she grew older, her mother continually compared her achievements to Mai’s, leading Nodoka to develop an inferiority complex. Despite these challenges, their bond was eventually restored after Nodoka discovered that Mai truly cared for her, allowing the sisters to rekindle their relationship.

Sakuta Azusagawa
Initially, Nodoka viewed Sakuta with suspicion, perceiving him as a bit of a pervert and wondering what her sister saw in him. However, as they spent more time together, her attitude softened, and she came to appreciate him. Nodoka ultimately began to rely on Sakuta, trusting him to look out for her sister and keep her from harm.

Kaede Azusagawa
Nodoka’s initial interactions with Kaede were limited. When they first met, Kaede was unaware that Nodoka and Mai had temporarily swapped bodies, and assumed Nodoka was simply imitating her sister’s behavior. After Kaede regained her memories, Nodoka took on a supportive role, helping Kaede study for her entrance exam to Minegahara High. After the exam, Kaede joined her brother Sakuta in attending aSweet Bulletconcert to watch Nodoka perform.
