Nico Robin, also known by her epithets “Devil Child” and the “Light of the Revolution,” is the archaeologist of the Straw Hat Pirates and one of the Senior Officers of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. She is the seventh member of the crew and the sixth to join, doing so at the end of theArabasta Arc. She temporarily left the crew during theWater 7 Arcbut rejoined during theEnies Lobby Arc.

Born into a family of archaeologists, Robin is the daughter ofNico Olvia. She ate theHana Hana no Miat a young age, granting her the ability to reproduce her body parts (or her entire body) on any surface at will. As the sole survivor of the destroyed West Blue islandOhara, she is one of the only two people in the world capable of reading and decipheringPoneglyphs, a forbidden skill that poses a significant threat to theWorld Government.

Before joining the Straw Hats, Robin acted as thevice president of Baroque Works, where she operated under the codenameMiss All Sunday, partnering with the ex-Warlord Crocodile, who operated asMr. 0. She served as a secondary antagonist during theArabasta Saga. Her ultimate dream is to find theRio Poneglyph, which holds the true history of the world, specifically theVoid Century.

Robin’s bounty ofBeli79,000,000was issued at the young age of 8, due to her ability to read the poneglyphs following the destruction of Ohara. Her bounty was later raised toBeli80,000,000after theEnies Lobby Arc, where the Straw Hats invaded the judicial island to rescue her. After theDressrosa Arc, her bounty increased toBeli130,000,000, and following theRaid on Onigashima, her bounty further skyrocketed toBeli930,000,000.

Nico Robin, the most serene member of the Straw Hat Pirates, rarely engages in the comedic antics that define the other crew members. Her calm and collected nature, along with her emotional stability, make her a steady and reliable presence on the crew. She exudes kindness and politeness, treating Luffy with respect and often smiling at his impulsive behavior rather than reprimanding him. Along with Zoro, Robin supports Luffy’s decisions unconditionally, always trusting in her captain’s leadership.

Robin often isolates herself on the ship, reading or investigating data from their adventures, reflecting her inquisitive and scholarly nature. She is a wise and patient woman who, due to her heritage and upbringing in Ohara, is passionate about uncovering the mysteries of the world and the true history hidden within the Void Century. Her calm demeanor rarely breaks, though one of the few exceptions was during theEnies Lobby Arc, where she famously cried out for Luffy and the crew from theTower of Justice, marking a rare emotional outburst.

Robin has an “adult charm” that Sanji often comments on, and Eiichiro Oda has described her as the “mother” of the group, nurturing younger characters likeChopper,Momonsuke, andTokowith maternal care. Despite this, Robin maintains a somewhat macabre sense of humor, often making morbid observations that both amuse and unsettle her crewmates.

The World Government fabricated the story that she sank sixBuster Callships with herDevil Fruitpowers, although they were actually destroyed byJaguar D. Saulduring her escape from Ohara. After spending much of her life on the run, Robin became a highly skilled and resourceful individual. Following her two years of training with theRevolutionary Army, she became even stronger. Her bounty rose significantly toBeli 930,000,000after theRaid on Onigashima, placing her among the most dangerous members of theStraw Hat Piratesin the eyes of the World Government.

Though not on par with the superhuman strength ofLuffy,Zoro, orSanji, Robin possesses considerable physical prowess. Her time on the run and experiences in combat have made her physically strong and agile. She demonstrated her strength when she easily overpoweredNefertari Viviwith a single strike and later used herDevil Fruitabilities in conjunction with her body to defeat a largeFish-Man.

Robin has incredible endurance, surviving being impaled byCrocodilewithout medical attention and recovering quickly from major injuries. Her tenacity and high pain tolerance were evident during her battle withBlack Maria, where she withstood numerous attacks and still emerged victorious. Her speed and agility also allow her to evade attacks, as seen when she dodged and countered the incredibly fastHakubaduring theDressrosa Arc.

Tactical Skills

Robin’s intellect makes her a brilliant strategist, adept at using deception and cunning to outmaneuver enemies. During theThriller Bark Arc, she trickedHogbackinto sending two zombies withZoroandSanji’sshadows off a cliff, showing her ability to exploit her enemies’ weaknesses. Her cautious nature also makes her highly perceptive of danger, as demonstrated when she recognizedTrebol’sabilities and adjusted her approach accordingly duringOperation SOP.

InWano, Robin’s quick thinking allowed her to infiltrateOrochi’s palaceand effectively gather information without being captured. Even when cornered by theOniwabanshu, she used a body double to escape.
