Miyoko Kinjō (金城 美代子, Kinjō Miyoko), is a supporting character in Handa-kun and a classmate of Seishuu Handa. Unlike most of the students who idolize or fear Handa, Miyoko is obsessed with him in an extreme and unsettling way, making her one of the most intense admirers in the series.
Her fixation on Handa manifests in possessive and aggressive behavior, leading to several humorous yet disturbing moments where she seeks to eliminate anyone she sees as a rival for Handa’s attention. Due to her over-the-top yandere tendencies, she often comes across as one of the most fearsome students at school even intimidating the Handa Force at times.
Background

Appearance in anime
Miyoko is a popular and well-liked girl at school, known for her beauty and refined demeanor. However, beneath her elegant and graceful exterior, she harbors an intense, borderline obsessive love for Handa, believing that she is the only one truly worthy of him.
Her obsession began when she misinterpreted one of Handa’s accidental interactions as a sign of affection, leading her to develop an extreme sense of possessiveness over him. She constantly monitors Handa’s actions, sees anyone who gets close to him as a rival, and will go to absurd lengths to eliminate any perceived threats to their “relationship”.
Despite her aggressive devotion, Handa himself is completely unaware of her existence, leading to hilarious misunderstandings and one-sided conflicts.
Appearance
Miyoko is an attractive young woman with a sophisticated and refined appearance. She has long black hair neatly styled, complementing her poised and elegant demeanor. Her school uniform is always perfectly worn, further reinforcing her image as a proper and well-mannered student.
However, when triggered by her obsession with Handa, her expression and demeanor change drastically, shifting from elegant and graceful to menacing and terrifying. Her eyes darken, her smile becomes unnerving, and she radiates an aura of intimidation, making her one of the scariest students in school.
Personality
Miyoko appears to be calm, refined, and intelligent, often maintaining a composed and polite image around others. However, beneath her controlled exterior, she is highly obsessive, jealous, and prone to violent outbursts when it comes to Handa.
She is incredibly possessive, believing that Handa belongs to her alone. Anyone who interacts with him especially other girls is immediately seen as a rival. Her ruthless and aggressive behavior toward her perceived competition is both terrifying and comedic, as she often resorts to extreme tactics to sabotage her “rivals”.
Despite her obsession, she is completely delusional, believing that Handa secretly reciprocates her feelings, when in reality, he doesn’t even know she exists.
Her character serves as a parody of the “yandere” trope, exaggerating the classic obsessive love interest archetype to comedic extremes.
Role in the Story
-
Miyoko’s One-Sided Love for Handa
Miyoko believes that Handa secretly loves her, even though they have barely interacted. She takes any minor action from Handa no matter how accidental or insignificant as proof of their “special connection.” -
Attacking Handa’s “Rivals”
Whenever Miyoko perceives someone getting close to Handa, she immediately targets them, using scare tactics, intimidation, and elaborate schemes to drive them away. This includes threatening other students, sabotaging conversations, and even terrifying the members of the Handa Force, despite their own devotion to Handa. -
Misinterpreting Handa’s Actions
Like many characters in Handa-kun, Miyoko misunderstands Handa’s social anxiety, mistaking his avoidance of her as playing “hard to get.” Every time Handa accidentally ignores or evades her, she becomes more convinced that he’s deliberately making their relationship more thrilling and dramatic. -
Clashes with the Handa Force
Miyoko frequently butts heads with the Handa Force, as she believes they are interfering with her destined romance. While the Handa Force idolizes Handa in a more general sense, Miyoko’s devotion is far more personal and extreme, often leading to comedic power struggles over who “deserves” to be closest to Handa.
Relationships
Seishuu Handa
Miyoko is obsessed with Handa, convinced that they are meant to be together despite Handa not even realizing she exists. Her delusions of romance fuel much of her behavior, leading to many over-the-top misunderstandings.
Handa Force
She sees the Handa Force as a group of annoying fanboys who are getting in the way of her “true love” with Handa. While they worship Handa in a different way, she views them as competition and is not afraid to intimidate them to assert her dominance.
Other Female Students
Any female student who even slightly interacts with Handa is immediately seen as a rival to be eliminated. Miyoko uses various schemes and intimidation tactics to ensure that no other girl gets close to Handa.
