Appearance

Miyoko has striking purple eyes and matching purple hair, with a small tuft that stands out from the top of her head. She has a tall, slender, yet curvaceous figure, notable for her graceful build and confident posture.

Her standard Tōtsuki uniform is customized to suit her style as she wears her blazer unbuttoned over a white shirt with the top button undone and chooses not to wear a tie. During the summer, she opts for the regular girls’ uniform without any alterations. She is also often seen wearing red and white sneakers.

When cooking, Miyoko typically dons a red cheongsam, reflecting her bold personality and flair. In class, she wears the usual Tōtsuki uniform, notably without socks, which adds to her distinct appearance.

Personality

Miyoko is a strong willed and fiery young woman with an unyielding desire for challenge and competition. She firmly believes that test scores alone cannot measure a person’s true capability, valuing strength of character and determination above mere academic performance. When faced with conflict, she prefers direct action over words, such as when she forcefully stomped on the ground to intimidate Megumi’s bullies. Miyoko holds deep convictions about female pride and equality, believing that women deserve the same respect and prestige as men. To her, anyone who underestimates a woman’s strength is beyond forgiveness.

However, her strong beliefs sometimes lead to bias, as she tends to look down on men and judges women who accept help from them as weak. Despite this, beneath her fierce and assertive exterior lies a compassionate heart. Miyoko stands up for the weak and defends those who are oppressed or mistreated, proving that her strength stems not just from pride, but also from empathy and justice.

History

Miyoko is the daughter of the head chef of Hōjōrō, a renowned restaurant in Yokohama Chinatown that has specialized in Chinese cuisine for over fifty years. After proving her skills, she succeeded her father as the first female head chef of the establishment. However, her succession was met with resistance, particularly from the sous chef, who opposed her leadership solely because of her gender. A year before enrolling at Tōtsuki Culinary Academy, Miyoko overheard the sous chef mocking both her abilities and her position, leading him to continually torment her in an attempt to force her out of the restaurant.

Despite this, Miyoko’s determination and talent only grew stronger. She soon astonished the kitchen staff by creating dishes that rivaled, and potentially surpassed, those of the sous chef. Confronting him directly, she declared that she would take his position once she graduated from Tōtsuki. Having endured years of belittlement, Miyoko vowed to rise to the very top of the culinary world by earning the first seat of the Tōtsuki Elite Ten Council, proving her worth beyond question.
