This vulnerability was later exploited by the Equipment Smith, leading to her temporary downfall.

Despite her shyness, Miyabi is deeply caring toward her friends, especially Tooru Kokonoe, for whom she develops romantic feelings. She often panics easily and reacts loudly when frightened, yet she consistently demonstrates a willingness to support and protect her comrades.

Although she frequently views herself as worthless or a burden, Miyabi aspires to grow stronger so as not to hold back her Duo partner, Tomoe Tachibana. Her determination, combined with her kindness and loyalty, defines her personal growth throughout the series.

Miyabi is depicted with short chestnut-brown hair, usually tied into two small tails that rest on her shoulders. She has golden-amber eyes and a fair complexion, giving her a gentle and youthful appearance.

Miyabi is first introduced through her Duo partner, Tomoe Tachibana, during a breakfast scene. Shortly afterward, Tooru Kokonoe encounters her again while she is out running, though she collapses from exhaustion. During this exchange, Miyabi confides in Tooru her insecurity about holding Tomoe back, believing that she lacks any special qualities.

Tooru reassures her that as long as she continues to train and put in effort, she will not be a burden to her partner. Encouraged by his words, Miyabi finds renewed determination and begins dedicating herself to improving her strength and skills.

Blaze
Miyabi’s Blaze takes the form of a heavy lance with a pyramid-shaped head and jagged edges along its base. While the weapon possesses immense destructive power, its sheer weight makes it difficult for her to wield effectively. Even the act of summoning the lance consumes a significant amount of her stamina, further limiting her combat endurance.

Despite these challenges, Miyabi’s lance is regarded as one of the most powerful in terms of raw physical strength. When using her Unit to amplify her abilities, she is able to handle the weapon with remarkable efficiency and speed, transforming her into a formidable opponent on the battlefield. Her strength is demonstrated in training and combat, where even without the full potential of her Blaze, she has been capable of overpowering Tooru Kokonoe, forcing him to struggle when defending with his shield.

Miyabi’s surname, Hotaka (穂高), is composed of the kanji 穂 (ho), meaning “grain” or “ear [of rice],” and 高 (taka), meaning “tall” or “high.” Her given name, Miyabi (みやび), is often associated with elegance or refinement in Japanese, reflecting a sense of traditional grace.
