Mio Ibuki (伊吹 澪, Ibuki Mio) is a student of Class 1-C at Advanced Nurturing High School in the Classroom of the Elite series. She is a highly capable student, possessing strong academic skills while also excelling in physical combat. Unlike many of her peers, Mio has extensive martial arts knowledge, allowing her to rival trained fighters in direct confrontations. Her combination of intelligence and physical prowess makes her one of the more formidable students within Class 1-C, where she plays a significant role in class conflicts and challenges.
Personality

Appearance in Anime
Mio Ibuki is a solitary and independent individual who prefers acting alone rather than engaging in social interactions. Her lack of interest in forming close bonds often leads to isolation within Class 1-C, as she does not actively participate in group activities or class dynamics.
Unlike many of her peers in Class 1-C, Mio does not take pleasure in violence. This is evident when she visibly flinched after Kakeru Ryūen smashed a glass bottle on Daichi Ishizaki’s head and when Albert Yamada was ordered to attack Daichi and the others as punishment for their failure in attempting to have Ken Sudō expelled. She openly disapproved of such acts of cruelty and expressed her desire for them to stop, indicating that while she is a capable fighter, she does not believe in senseless brutality.
Mio has a strong sense of pride and refuses to be treated as inferior. This is demonstrated when she confronted Kakeru Ryūen after he made advances on her, refusing to be treated like a plaything. She also dislikes being pitied, as shown when she angrily slapped away Kiyotaka Ayanokōji’s hand after he attempted to help her up following a confrontation.
Due to her time under Kakeru Ryūen’s leadership, Mio has developed deep-rooted mistrust and suspicion toward others. She often assumes that people approach her with hidden motives, as seen when she dismissed Kiyotaka and his group after they inquired about her. However, she is capable of being caught off guard by genuine kindness, such as when Kiyotaka stated that he trusted her after a stolen panties incident during the island survival exam. The unexpected belief in her innocence left her blushing and nervously thanking him, showing that she is not completely immune to kindness or positive interactions.
Despite her reserved and independent nature, Mio is somewhat curious about the relationships around her. She showed interest in Kikyō Kushida and Haruki Yamauchi’s remarks about Suzune Horikita and Kiyotaka Ayanokōji’s growing closeness, suggesting that while she keeps her distance, she is observant of others.
Mio is also highly deceptive and cunning, willing to manipulate situations for her advantage. She infiltrated Class D under the guise of seeking help, stealing Suzune Horikita’s keycard despite the class providing her with food and necessities. She showed no remorse for her deception, even defeating Suzune in a physical confrontation to achieve her goal. Her actions highlight her pragmatic and ruthless nature, prioritizing her objectives over personal bonds.
Appearance
Mio Ibuki is a teenage girl of average height with short blue hair, which features a single strand sticking up. She has purple eyes, giving her a distinct and striking appearance.
She is typically seen wearing the Advanced Nurturing High School uniform, which includes a blue bowtie and an orange shirt, distinguishing her look from other students. During the special island exam, like all other first-year students, she wore the standard red tracksuit.
Abilities
Physical Abilities
Mio Ibuki is a highly capable fighter, possessing advanced combat skills that set her apart from many of her peers. She specializes in Capoeira, a Brazilian martial art that emphasizes fluid movements, agility, and acrobatics. Her combat ability was demonstrated during the special island exam, where she successfully defeated Suzune Horikita in hand-to-hand combat. Kiyotaka Ayanokōji later noted that even if Suzune had not been sick, Mio likely still would have won, further emphasizing her natural fighting talent.
However, despite her skill, Mio is not invincible. Against Kakeru Ryūen, she was outmatched, as he was able to dodge her attacks and overpower her effortlessly. Similarly, when facing Kiyotaka Ayanokōji, she proved to be no match for him, as he was able to easily defeat her without effort. While her fighting skills are formidable, her combat effectiveness is limited against opponents with superior experience and tactical awareness.
Etymology
The name Mio (澪) is written with the kanji meaning “water route” or “shipping channel”, which may symbolize fluidity, adaptability, and movement, qualities that align with her Capoeira-based fighting style and her ability to navigate conflicts strategically.
Her surname, Ibuki (伊吹), consists of the kanji 伊 (i), which can mean “that one”, and 吹 (buki), meaning “blow, breathe, puff, emit, or smoke”. This could be interpreted as a reference to speed, force, or an uncontainable presence, reflecting her strong-willed personality and combat proficiency.
