He first joinedFox News Channelin 2001. Tobin reported live on the death of unarmed Freddie Gray and the pros that followed in Baltimore, Maryland. He also provided live coverage from Ferguson, Missouri on the pros and investigation of the death of Michael Brown.

Previously, Tobin has reported on several breaking news stories such as theBoston Marathon bombing, the Sandy Hook shooting, and the deadly EF5 tornado in Moore,Oklahoma. He also covered the aftermath of the 2011 Joplin, MO EF5 tornado.

In May 2020, Tobin reported fromMinneapolis, where pros grew increasingly tense after the death ofGeorge Floyd. Tobin, reporting live from the scene, was caught in the crossfire and said he felt pepper spray get into his eyes. “Some of the flashbangs have been deployed, primarily from the police on the rooftop,” Tobin said at one point, standing with a news camera and microphone between the lines of proers and police officers.[4]
