Michiaki Sakaki (榊 道昭, Sakaki Michiaki) is the head of the East Beach Electric Railway Group financial conglomerate and the chief director of Mihama Academy. He is the husband of Misako Sakaki and the father of Yumiko Sakaki, one of the main heroines in the Grisaia series.

In public, Michiaki maintains a composed and reserved expression, concealing the emotional struggles he carries. Although he deeply cares for his family, his role as the head of a powerful financial conglomerate forces him to suppress his true feelings.
Bound by family expectations and corporate responsibilities, Michiaki was compelled to marry another woman after his first wife, Misako, was unable to bear more children due to health issues. As a result, he distanced himself from both Misako and their daughter, Yumiko, adopting a strict and cold attitude that caused Yumiko to resent him.
When Yumiko staged her death in an act of rebellion, Michiaki was devastated. The emotional toll and the consequences of this event eventually led to his removal from his position within a year, possibly due to internal failures within the Sakaki corporation, despite his efforts to preserve Mihama Academy.

The given name Michiaki (道昭) is composed of the kanji michi (道), meaning “path” or “way,” and aki (昭), meaning “bright” or “shining.” Together, the name can be interpreted as “bright path” or “enlightened way.” His surname Sakaki (榊) refers to the “sacred Shinto tree,” a plant often associated with purity and used in religious rituals in Japan.

Yumiko Sakaki
Michiaki’s only daughter and one of the students at Mihama Academy. Although he genuinely cares for her, their relationship is strained due to his cold and distant treatment of both Yumiko and her mother, Misako. His emotional detachment led Yumiko to rebel against him, which ultimately had a deep emotional impact on Michiaki.
Yuuji Kazami
