Appearance
Elaine is portrayed as a tall woman with a striking and ornate appearance. She has long, dark green hair that extends to her knees and blue-green eyes. Her attire reflects her noble origins, consisting of a forest-green waistcoat fastened at the neck with a red gemstone brooch, a matching skirt, dark tights, and forearm-length gloves. She also wears red earrings and a dark green tiara that rests upon her head.
To complete her look, Elaine dons a sweeping dark cloak that drapes along the ground, partially concealing her outfit. During her time as Kaiser, ruler of the Name Hunt Station, she concealed her identity with an ornate silver mask painted with red lips, reinforcing her feared reputation as the “Name Hunter.”
Personality
Elaine is initially depicted as a cold, calculating, and strict figure, dedicated to preserving her rule over the Name Hunt Station. Her determination stems from a sense of obligation to repay what she perceives as self-imposed debts, a burden that heavily influences her actions. As a leader, she is pragmatic and perceptive, quickly recognizing suspicious circumstances, such as the unusual arrival of Jyu Viole Grace and advising her subordinates to remain hidden to prevent challenges from Androssi and her companions.
According to Alphine, Elaine’s demeanor was not always so severe. In her youth, before a traumatic incident altered her outlook, she was described as dignified, courageous, kind, and courteous. Despite the hardened personality she adopted as Kaiser, moments of her former self occasionally resurface, hinting at the compassionate woman she once was.
Elaine’s beauty is also acknowledged within the narrative, particularly during the festival, where her true appearance is revealed beneath the mask of the Name Hunter.
History
Elaine was born into the Grey Wolf family, one of the twenty branch families of the Lo Po Bia Family. Though not of the direct bloodline, her talent surpassed that of many who were. At the age of fourteen, she was nominated by the Zahard Family to become a Princess of Zahard, elevating the Grey Wolf family’s standing among the branches. Around this time, Alphine was appointed by the Main Family to serve as her attendant.
A week before her scheduled coronation, the Lo Po Bia Family held a competition among the children of the branch families. Though exempt due to her candidacy as a Princess, Elaine was nevertheless summoned to attend. During the event, she encountered a boy whose abilities exceeded all the other participants and soon developed feelings for him. Aware of the rule that Princesses of Zahard were forbidden to love, Elaine began to waver in her resolve. She ultimately abandoned her candidacy, attempting to escape with the boy from the floating castle.
However, the escape was revealed to be a ruse orchestrated by the Main Family and the Zahard Family to test her suitability as a Princess. Betrayed, Elaine was declared unworthy, and the consequences were severe: the Head of the Lo Po Bia Family ordered the imprisonment of the entire Grey Wolf family and imposed a crippling penalty fee. Elaine herself was condemned to a unique punishment administration of the Name Hunt Station on the 39th Floor, ruling in the name of the Ten Families.
Upon her arrival, the station was a neglected and lawless area, long dominated by the Ten Families, who intended to turn it into a system for exploiting and trading the names of Regulars. As the appointed ruler, Elaine oversaw the festivals that harvested names, funneling the profits toward her family’s debt. However, the Grey Wolf family squandered the revenues, ensuring that the debt never decreased. Over time, Elaine accepted the mask of “Kaiser,” a ruthless enforcer of the system, hiding her face and reputation behind the role.
When Alphine later appeared at the station as a Regular, she once again chose to remain by Elaine’s side, resuming her role as her attendant. By then, Elaine had become known as the cold and feared ruler of the Name Hunt Station, trapped in an endless cycle of servitude while her family continued to benefit from her punishment.
Weapons
As Kaiser, Elaine possessed several high-level items, an unusual privilege for a Regular, which contributed to her feared reputation at the Name Hunt Station.
Armour Inventory
A large and extremely expensive piece of equipment, rare even among High Rankers. It provided Elaine with powerful defensive capabilities, capable of withstanding and even destroying weapons such as swords. However, it was eventually destroyed by Twenty-Fifth Baam during his use of the Crimson Flame technique.
Invisible Inventory
A special inventory that renders equipped weapons invisible, allowing Elaine to conceal her arsenal during battle.
Arms Inventory
A forest-green inventory containing a wide variety of sharp weapons, including swords, spears, arrows, and needles, which Elaine could summon at will.
Relationships
Lo Po Bia Alphine
Alphine was originally assigned as Elaine’s attendant by the Lo Po Bia Main Family in preparation for her ascension as a Princess of Zahard. She admired Elaine’s qualities and believed she was well-suited for the role. After Elaine’s failure and subsequent exile to the Name Hunt Station, Alphine later arrived as a Regular and chose to remain at Elaine’s side. Serving as Kaiser’s most loyal subordinate, Alphine assisted her in managing the station and attempted to help her repay the debt to the family. Elaine, in turn, trusted Alphine deeply, granting her the role of her left hand in ruling the station.
Lo Po Bia Shilial Zahard and Lo Po Bia Lilial Zahard
Elaine was occasionally aligned with the twin sisters Shilial and Lilial Zahard. They respected her combat ability and intelligence, cooperating with her during plans to capture the names of Jyu Viole Grace and Androssi Zahard. However, their alliance fractured when Elaine, as Kaiser, betrayed them after her defeat to Viole.
Twenty-Fifth Baam
Baam developed sympathy for Elaine upon learning of her punishment at the Name Hunt Station and the debt imposed by the Lo Po Bia Family. He ultimately freed her by purchasing her name at the auction and paying off her debt, ending centuries of servitude. This act sparked Elaine’s interest in Baam, which has been interpreted as a mix of gratitude, curiosity, and personal endearment. Following the events of the Last Station, Elaine reunited with Baam and has since continued to climb alongside him as a member of his team.
