Lisesharte Atismata

Lisesharte Atismata (リーズシャルテ・アティスマータ, Rīzusharute Atisumāta), commonly referred to as Lisha (リーシャ, Rīsha), is one of the main female protagonists of Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut (Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle). She is the First Princess of the New Kingdom of Atismata and is widely known by the title Scarlet War Princess (朱の戦姫, Shu no Senki). Lisesharte is the chosen wielder of the Divine Drag-Ride Tiamat (ティアマト, Tiamato).

Prior to the fall of the Old Arcadia Empire, she was enslaved under its rule, an experience that shaped her resolve as both a warrior and leader. By the conclusion of the series, she marries Lux Arcadia and becomes one of the five queens of the New Kingdom.

Lisesharte Atismata’s Appearance in Anime

Lisesharte was born the first daughter of Count Atismata, a noble of the Old Arcadia Empire. She had a younger sister, Almatea Atismata, while her mother passed away from illness during her childhood.

Five years prior to the main events, Lisesharte was kidnapped by the Empire to be used as leverage against her father, who had previously opposed imperial policies. Despite this, Count Atismata chose to lead a coup d’état against the Empire, effectively abandoning her and intending for his second daughter, Almatea, to become princess in her place. In the present, Lisesharte speculates that this decision may have been her father’s attempt to protect her. The coup ultimately failed, resulting in Count Atismata’s death, while Almatea was believed to have perished as well.

During the rebellion, Lisesharte was confined within the imperial castle, where she witnessed a clash between Drag-Knights. She was confronted by Fugil Arcadia, who implied responsibility for the massacre within the castle and challenged her to seek revenge. Despairing at having no home to return to with the Empire’s downfall, Lisesharte asked him to kill her as well. Amused by her resolve, Fugil instead entrusted her with the Sword Device for the Divine Drag-Ride Tiamat, urging her to escape. She also caught sight of a massive black Drag-Ride, which Fugil described only as “the hero who took down the Empire.” She then fled through a secret passage beneath a well.

With the success of the rebellion, the Old Arcadia Empire was destroyed and replaced by the New Kingdom of Atismata. Lisesharte’s aunt, Raffi Atismata, ascended to the throne. Having no children of her own, Raffi adopted Lisesharte as her daughter, thereby granting her the title of First Princess of the New Kingdom.

Appearance

Lisesharte is depicted as a strikingly beautiful young woman with fair skin, crimson eyes, and long blonde hair, which she typically ties into a ponytail over her left shoulder.

As a former hostage of the Old Arcadia Empire, she bears a brand on her abdomen placed by Velvet Barth, marking her as the Empire’s property. This scar serves as a lasting reminder of her captivity and mistreatment.

Personality

At the beginning of the series, Lisesharte displays traits typical of a tsundere, often acting brusque or combative while gradually revealing her softer side, particularly toward Lux Arcadia. Her upbringing under the Old Empire left her abused, abandoned, and isolated until Fugil Arcadia’s intervention and her inheritance of the Divine Drag-Ride Tiamat.

Despite her reputation as the Scarlet War Princess, Lisesharte often exhibits a childish streak. She craves praise, clings to Lux for reassurance, and holds somewhat naïve views on romance, to the point of struggling to explain what a kiss is. Her classmates are frequently surprised by her innocence in matters of love. She also shows jealousy toward Lux’s other admirers, including Krulcifer Einfolk and Celistia Ralgris, whom she perceives as rivals.

Lisesharte carries deep insecurities about her role as princess of the New Kingdom. Her doubts stem from her time as a hostage of the Old Empire, when she longed for her father to rescue her rather than attempt a rebellion. Haunted by her fear and inability to take her own life during captivity, she now struggles with the expectations placed upon her by the kingdom’s citizens. Because of this, she dislikes revealing her past to others at the academy, confiding only in Lux, who shares a similar burden as a former member of the Arcadia imperial family.

Abilities

Lisesharte is recognized as one of the most skilled Drag-Knights in the Royal Officer Academy, ranking among the best of the Knight Squadron. At full power, she has demonstrated the ability to defeat the commanders of the Dragon Marauders.

Drag-Ride Engineering
Lisesharte’s greatest talent lies in her technical expertise. As a master Drag-Ride engineer, she is capable of repairing, modifying, and enhancing Drag-Rides independently. Her skills extend to combining components from different general-purpose Drag-Rides, a feat she successfully accomplished in creating an entirely new model.

Combat Techniques

    • Over Unit: A self-developed technique that allows her to mount a general-purpose Drag-Ride onto her Divine Drag-Ride, Tiamat. This grants her the ability to adapt rapidly to battlefield conditions by switching combat functions. However, the strain of this technique greatly accelerates stamina and mental fatigue, with even minor errors posing life-threatening risks.
    • Wyvern Wing: A form that equips additional wings and a sword, enhancing mobility and amplifying the power of her technique Howling Roar.
    • Wyrm Claw: A form that equips two additional arms fitted with a drill and high-frequency blade, while also reinforcing Tiamat’s barrier.
    • Drake Horn: A form that augments Tiamat’s armor and adds a horn-like antenna. This form disrupts enemy radar through jamming, doubles the strength of her Suppressor, and significantly increases maximum output.
    • Baptism: At the command of Queen Raffi, Lisesharte underwent Baptism, granting her the ability to store energy in daily life and expend it rapidly during combat, mitigating her high stamina consumption.

Tiamat
Lisesharte’s exclusive Divine Drag-Ride is Tiamat, a flying-type Drag-Ride equipped with multiple advanced weapons and abilities:

    • Breath Gun: A ranged weapon capable of unleashing high-temperature flames powerful enough to destroy a building.
    • Blade: A sword designed for close-quarters combat.
    • Howling Roar: A basic Drag-Ride technique that generates a shockwave from the Force Core; its power is amplified in the Wyvern Wing form.
    • Seven Heads (七つの竜頭, Sevunsu Hezzu, lit. “Seven Dragon Heads”): A long-barreled, seven-muzzled cannon mounted on Tiamat’s right arm and shoulder. It is capable of firing beams powerful enough to slay a Ragnarok, though only when weakened.
    • Legion (空挺要塞, Region, lit. “Airborne Fortress”): A special armament consisting of large, arrowhead-shaped throwing weapons. Up to sixteen can be deployed at once, each self-propelled and remotely controlled.
    • Suppressor (天声, Supureshā, lit. “Sound of Nature”): Tiamat’s Divine Raiment, which grants control over gravity. It can immobilize targets by drastically increasing gravity or nullify gravitational effects entirely.

Relationships

Lux Arcadia
Lisesharte first meets Lux Arcadia when he accidentally intrudes upon her while she is bathing, leading to a brief altercation. Over time, she grows to trust him deeply and eventually falls in love with him. Lisesharte is responsible for maintaining and upgrading Lux’s weaponry and his Divine Drag-Ride, Bahamut.
Lux becomes a source of happiness and motivation for Lisesharte, encouraging her to embrace her role as princess, which she had initially rejected. She dreams of building a strong and peaceful kingdom alongside Lux and her aunt Raffi. At one point, she mistakenly believes Lux to be a terrorist who attacked the New Kingdom, confronting him with Tiamat and easily overpowering him. However, upon realizing he was not the true Lux, her doubts are dispelled, strengthening her faith in him.

Raffi Atismata
Raffi is Lisesharte’s aunt and adoptive mother, who became queen of the New Kingdom following the fall of the Old Arcadia Empire. Initially reluctant to accept her role as princess, Lisesharte gradually grows closer to Raffi, drawing strength from her guidance. She shares Raffi’s dream of building a peaceful society in the New Kingdom alongside Lux. During later events, Raffi sacrifices her life to protect the kingdom, entrusting Lisesharte with the will to live peacefully with Lux.

Count Atismata
Lisesharte’s father, Count Atismata, led a rebellion against the Old Arcadia Empire. His decision to prioritize the coup over his daughter’s safety left a lasting impact on her, and he was ultimately killed during the uprising.

Almatea Atismata
Almatea is Lisesharte’s younger sister, whom she initially believed to have died during the rebellion. In reality, Almatea harbored resentment toward her, accusing her of betraying their father. Lisesharte struggles with this conflict, feeling reluctant to fight against her sister despite their estrangement.

Nulph
Nulph, once Count Atismata’s adjutant and right-hand man, ensured that Lisesharte survived the downfall of the Old Empire. Afterward, he positioned her as princess of the New Kingdom, despite her initial resistance. Though grateful for his role in her survival, Lisesharte remained conflicted about the political burden placed upon her.

Trivia

    • Lisesharte’s character design bears a resemblance to Nagi Sanzenin from Hayate the Combat Butler, particularly in her hairstyle.
