Lilith Bristol (リーリス・ブリストル, Rīrisu Burisutoru) is one of the main characters in the Absolute Duo series. She is a transfer student from the British branch of Kouryou Academy and is classified as an Exception (特別(エクセプション), Tokubetsu (Ekusepushon), lit. “Special”), a designation given to individuals whose Blaze differs from the standard form.
Personality

Appearance in Anime
Lilith is portrayed as a daring and adventurous individual, often drawn to activities that excite or thrill her. Examples of this trait include her spontaneous decision to invite Tooru Kokonoe to a theme park and her reckless leap from a helicopter into the sea to join him. She maintains a cheerful and lively disposition, frequently seen smiling and playfully teasing Tooru, which often leads to lighthearted quarrels with Julie Sigtuna.
Initially, Lilith’s interest in Tooru stems from the fact that, like her, he is classified as an Exception. However, after experiencing his determination and spirit during the Survive battle, she comes to genuinely admire him. Convinced that he is the one meant for her, she boldly declares her intent to make him her future husband.
Lilith also exhibits a confident and sometimes domineering attitude, rarely asking for help from others and preferring to follow her own pace. While her self-centered behavior can appear selfish, her frank and sociable personality allows her to build friendly relationships with her peers. Her playful and occasionally childish mannerisms such as when she acted like a child during her amusement park outing with Tooru reflect a lighter side of her character. In addition, her refined speech and mannerisms give her an “ojou-sama” (high-class lady) impression.
According to Sakuya Tsukumo, Lilith possesses two metaphorical masks, suggesting a duality in her outward charm and inner self.
Appearance
Lilith is depicted as a striking young woman whose features often attract attention among her peers. She has long, blonde hair that flows down her back, usually adorned with a red ribbon tied at the back of her head. Her sapphire-blue eyes stand out as one of her most notable traits, adding to her distinctive look.
She is described as having a fair complexion and refined facial features, with a natural elegance that reflects her background and upbringing. Her overall appearance gives her an air of sophistication, setting her apart from many of the other students at Kouryou Academy.
Background
Lilith is classified as an Exception for two primary reasons. Unlike most students whose Blaze manifests in the form of melee weapons, her Blaze takes the form of a rifle, setting her apart as a rare case within Kouryou Academy. Drawn by reports of another Exception, Tooru Kokonoe, whose Blaze manifests as a shield, she transfers from the British branch of the Academy to Japan with the intent of meeting him and potentially becoming his Duo partner.
Beyond her unique abilities, Lilith comes from a wealthy and influential family, owners of the Bristol Company, which holds financial ties with the Dawn Organization. Due to this connection, Lilith is granted privileges that allow her to circumvent certain school regulations. Her household is also attended by retainers, most notably her personal butler Sarah, who hails from a family line traditionally devoted to serving the Bristols.
Abilities
Blaze
Lilith’s Blaze is notable for breaking the traditional conventions of the ability. While most Blazes typically manifest as melee weapons such as swords or polearms, hers takes the form of a rifle, making her one of the rare Exceptions within Kouryou Academy. This distinction grants her long-range combat capabilities uncommon among her peers, further emphasizing her unique status within the series.
Relationships
Tooru Kokonoe
Lilith initially travels to Japan with the intent of making Tooru Kokonoe her Duo partner, drawn to him because he, like her, is an Exception. Their relationship begins with tension, as Tooru resists her advances and bold personality. However, over time, she grows closer to him, openly declaring her intent to make him her future husband. Lilith’s feelings for Tooru are expressed directly, such as when she kisses him on the cheek and repeatedly proclaims her determination to be with him.
Sakuya Tsukumo
Lilith shares a long-standing acquaintance with Sakuya Tsukumo, suggesting that their connection predates the events at Kouryou Academy. She frequently teases Sakuya about her composed and distant manner, while also demonstrating insight into Sakuya’s personal struggles. Lilith is one of the few who recognizes Sakuya’s fixation on the concept of the Absolute Duo, as well as the limitations of her isolated worldview, and provocatively declares that she intends to challenge and “destroy” it alongside her.
Julie Sigtuna
Lilith and Julie Sigtuna maintain a strained relationship, largely due to their shared affection for Tooru. Their conversations often devolve into arguments when he becomes the subject, highlighting their rivalry. Despite this conflict, the two are shown to set aside their differences when working together for Tooru’s well-being, suggesting a mutual respect beneath their rivalry.
