Li Tianchen

Li Tianchen (李天辰; Lǐ Tiānchén) is the central antagonist of the Chinese animated series (donghua) Link Click. He serves as the main villain throughout both seasons, though his true identity is only revealed in Season 2. Working alongside Qian Jin, Tianchen is responsible for orchestrating multiple homicides, including the death of Emma while inhabiting her body and the stabbing of Lu Guang while possessing Qiao Ling. He often disguises himself as his twin sister, Li Tianxi, further concealing his role in the series’ events.

Appearance as a Child

As a child, Li Tianchen was brash and outspoken, though he also demonstrated a caring side, particularly in the protective way he looked after his twin sister, Li Tianxi. He had a strong sense of justice and openly resented people he perceived as insincere, such as their neighbor, whom he disliked for pretending to be kind.

In the present timeline, however, Tianchen has grown into a cruel and unstable figure, shaped by trauma and despair. Though he continues to hold his sister dear, he has become deeply pessimistic about his own future and commits numerous murders through the use of his supernatural ability, often in partnership with Qian Jin. His outlook shifts further after learning of Cheng Xiaoshi’s power to travel into the past via photographs. Believing this ability could be the key to rewriting their tragic history, Tianchen initially seeks Cheng’s help, but when Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang refuse to intervene, Tianchen resolves to capture Cheng and seize the power for himself.

Appearance

Li Tianchen is a slim young man of average height, distinguished by his short pink hair and matching pink eyes. His main outfit consists of a lilac-blue jacket with yellow, pink, and white accents, layered over a yellow hoodie with additional pink and blue details. He completes the look with white shorts, long white socks, and lilac-blue and pink shoes.

When concealing his identity by posing as his twin sister Li Tianxi, Tianchen wears a mask and wig to disguise his appearance. In this guise, he is seen wearing a pink hoodie, a pink shirt, and pink shoes to further mimic his sister’s style.

Abilities

Control by Touch
Li Tianchen possesses the ability to place individuals into a trance-like state simply by making physical contact with them. Once under his influence, the victim is compelled to follow his commands. This control can be disrupted if the victim is separated from him. When targeting other ability users, Tianchen can exploit this power to indirectly make use of their abilities.

Remote Control
Tianchen is also able to combine his power with that of his twin sister, Li Tianxi. While holding her hand as she uses her photo-based possession ability, Tianchen can extend her power, granting him direct control over the person she is spectating. Through this method, he can remotely possess individuals in the present, overriding their consciousness. Unlike Tianxi, who can only observe, Tianchen retains his physical strength while possessing others and can move hosts even under paralysis, as demonstrated with Liu Min.

Relationships

Li Tianchen
Li Tianxi is Li Tianchen’s twin sister and the person he was closest to during his childhood. Tianchen often felt a strong need to protect her from harm, shielding her from their abusive father and reprimanding their neighbor for inappropriate behavior toward her. He also learned sign language specifically so that Tianxi, who is mute, could communicate more easily. Despite his later descent into violence, Tianchen’s early bond with Tianxi highlights his protective and caring nature.

Qian Jin
After the death of their parents, Qian Jin took in both Li Tianchen and Li Tianxi. Having resigned from his role as a police officer, Qian Jin raised the siblings not out of compassion but to exploit their abilities. As they grew older, he began using them as tools to carry out murders remotely. Together, they were coerced into participating in a string of killings, including the murder of Zhuang Shuai and several homicides committed on behalf of Liu Min.

Liu Xiao
Li Tianchen first met Liu Xiao as a child in a park, where Xiao helped him retrieve a ball from a fountain. Xiao’s encouragement inspired Tianchen to be braver and to stand up against his abusive father, advice he attempted to follow by intervening when his father struck his mother. Years later, the two reunited at the same park, where Tianchen handed over Liu Min’s phone. Xiao then invited Tianchen to join his plan, and Tianchen agreed, leaving behind both his phone and his former life. Their relationship suggests that Tianchen respects and values Xiao’s influence, as he is shown to follow his advice and accompany him willingly.

Etymology

Li Tianchen’s family name 李 (Lǐ) is one of the most common Chinese surnames, historically tied to the Tang dynasty. His given name, 天辰 (Tiānchén), combines the characters 天 (tiān), meaning “heaven,” “sky,” or “celestial,” and 辰 (chén), a classical term that refers to “stars,” “constellations,” or the passage of time. Together, his name can be interpreted as “celestial stars” or “heavenly constellations,” imagery that reflects themes of destiny, cosmic order, and time, which parallel his role and abilities in Link Click. In promotional materials released before the premiere of Season 1, his English name was revealed to be “Tim,” a shortened form of Timothy, a Greek-derived name meaning “honoring God” or “to honor.”
