Kureha Clyret is a character in the Redo of Healer series. A former knight of the Jioral Kingdom, she earned renown under the titles of Blade Goddess and Sword Saint for her unmatched skill with the sword. She is later recognized as the new Sword Hero and is revealed to be a descendant of Souji, one of the Ancient Heroes. Initially positioned as an adversary to Keyaru and his companions, Kureha ultimately turns against the Jioral Kingdom after uncovering its atrocities and manipulation, acknowledging that she had been treated merely as a pawn. She subsequently joins forces with Keyaru’s party.
Personality

Kureha Clyret’s Appearance in Anime
Unlike most individuals associated with the Jioral Kingdom, Kureha Clyret is portrayed as an honorable woman guided by a strong sense of justice. She openly condemns wrongdoing and willingly risks her own safety to protect others. After Keyaru restores her severed arm, she expresses sincere gratitude and vows to repay him in the future, highlighting her loyalty and integrity.
Kureha strongly opposes the misuse of the Clyret family’s swordsmanship. Upon hearing that Keyaru had used the technique against the kingdom’s troops, she confronted him, believing they were innocent soldiers defending the Ice Wolf tribe. Her values also extend to her views on demi-humans, as she rejects the notion of slavery or racial superiority. When she mistakenly assumed Setsuna was an enslaved demi-human, she attempted to intervene on her behalf.
Raised in wealth, Kureha maintains a refined and dignified demeanor, at times giving the impression of being somewhat spoiled. Nevertheless, she shows genuine care for commoners and treats others with respect regardless of their status. She also takes pride in her outward appearance, ensuring that she carries herself with grace and elegance.
Appearance
Kureha Clyret is renowned for her striking appearance, often described as a natural beauty whose elegance endures even after years of combat. Despite fighting in numerous battles, her body remains unscarred, contributing to her almost idealized image as the “Blade Goddess.” She has a tall, well-proportioned build that complements her role as a knight, combining physical strength with a graceful presence. Her most distinguishing features are her long silver hair and bright blue eyes, which enhance her dignified aura and are often noted as captivating enough to charm both men and women.
Kureha is typically depicted in the formal armor of a knight, a reflection of her disciplined upbringing and high status within the Jioral Kingdom. Outside of combat, she is shown to maintain a refined and immaculate appearance, taking pride in her presentation. Her attire, demeanor, and noble bearing underscore her reputation as both a formidable warrior and a figure of admiration within the kingdom.
Background
Kureha Clyret was born into the prestigious Clyret family of the Jioral Kingdom, a noble lineage renowned for its swordsmanship. As a descendant of Souji, one of the Ancient Heroes, she inherited both the techniques and the responsibility of upholding her family’s martial legacy. From a young age, Kureha received training in swordsmanship and military discipline, rising quickly through the ranks of the kingdom’s knights.
Her skill and beauty earned her the titles of Blade Goddess and Sword Saint, cementing her reputation as one of the strongest warriors in the kingdom. Despite her noble status and privileged upbringing, Kureha developed a sense of justice and compassion uncommon among the kingdom’s elite. This often placed her at odds with the Jioral Kingdom’s corrupt practices and oppressive treatment of demi-humans.
Initially, Kureha stood as an enemy to Keyaru and his companions, acting under the orders of the kingdom. However, after Keyaru restored her severed arm and she uncovered the truth about the kingdom’s atrocities, she realized she had been manipulated as a pawn. Disillusioned with her homeland, she abandoned the Jioral Kingdom and allied herself with Keyaru’s party, later assuming the mantle of Sword Hero.
Relationships
Keyaru
Kureha’s relationship with Keyaru begins with conflict but evolves into deep mutual respect and affection. After he restores her severed arm, she expresses sincere gratitude and vows to repay him. Though initially adversaries following his escape from the Jioral Kingdom, Kureha eventually allies with him after being defeated in combat and learning the truth about the kingdom’s corruption.
As they travel together, Keyaru teaches her practical survival skills such as cooking and self-sufficiency, emphasizing both physical and mental well-being. Their bond gradually deepens into intimacy, with Kureha developing strong feelings for him. Before the final battle, they discuss the prospect of having children, though they ultimately postpone the idea to avoid hindering her combat role. Kureha respects Keyaru’s leadership and remains devoted to him despite occasional jealousy regarding his closeness with other companions, confident that he values her deeply.
Flare Arlgrande Jioral
Kureha and Flare initially view one another with rivalry, as Flare is envious of Kureha’s skill and close connection to Keyaru. However, over time, they come to share a mutual respect and work effectively together. As fellow Heroes, their combined abilities complement each other, with Kureha excelling in close-range combat and Flare wielding powerful long-range magic. The two often protect one another in battle, displaying exceptional teamwork against formidable enemies, including high-level dragons. Their synergy is considered so great that even Keyaru acknowledges their partnership as a force he would prefer not to face directly.
Etymology
The name Kureha is typically written in katakana as クレハ, which carries no inherent meaning on its own. However, when written in kanji, it can take on a variety of interpretations depending on the characters used. Possible renderings include 紅茶, meaning “black tea”; 紅華, meaning “crimson flower”; and 呉葉, combining “to give” with “leaf” or “blade.” Other variations include 空鈴葉 (“sky, bell, and leaf”), 空玲羽 (“sky, tinkling of jade, and feather”), 久玲葉 (“long time, tinkling of jade, and leaf”), and 紅麗羽 (“crimson, beautiful feather”). Additional forms include 暮葉, meaning “to live or spend time, and leaf,” and 来蓮葉, which can be interpreted as “coming lotus leaf.” These variations reflect the flexibility of Japanese naming practices, where identical phonetic readings can carry different symbolic nuances depending on the choice of kanji.
