Despite her initial antagonistic role, she demonstrates a capacity for change and loyalty, forming deep bonds with those she respects.

Her softer side is revealed through her romantic feelings for Rindo Urushiba, which developed after he saved her. This affection adds another layer to her personality, showing that beneath her confident and mischievous exterior, she is capable of deep emotions and attachment.

Plot

Black Fist Arc
Kobushi Kuroi gained notoriety as a thief by successfully robbing several banks and shops, further cementing her reputation as Black Fist. However, due to a mix-up, the police mistakenly associated her crimes with Crow Head. Her criminal activities escalated when she attempted to rob a museum, but her plans were thwarted when she was confronted and defeated by Azuma and Rinka Urushiba. As a result of their battle, Kobushi sustained injuries and was hospitalized.

Despite being caught, she managed to avoid arrest due to a lack of substantial evidence, as noted by Nabeshima, who pointed out that her invisibility made it difficult for law enforcement to prove her involvement. Shortly after, Kobushi escaped from the hospital and was recruited by the Hotokeda Gang, aligning herself with the criminal organization.

Hotokeda Gang Arc
As a new member of the Hotokeda Gang, Kobushi accompanied her boss on a visit to Edoyama’s residence, where the gang leader intended to seize control of all Kanto’s territory. However, Kobushi expressed disdain for the gang, dismissing them as nothing more than low-class criminals. During this time, she once again encountered Rinka Urushiba, leading to their second battle. Unlike their previous encounter, this time Kobushi emerged victorious.

After Rinka’s defeat, Kobushi witnessed Merayama setting Rinka’s home on fire. Despite their rivalry, Kobushi warned Rinka to stay away from the escalating conflict. Her curiosity about supernatural abilities deepened, prompting her to question Hotokeda about the trade of superpowers. She also sought information from Minami Azuma, eventually discovering that the Ark’s tablet fragment was the source of the Glowing Fish, which granted esper abilities.

Kobushi’s perception of Rinka changed drastically after witnessing her relentless resilience. After suffering multiple beatings, Rinka still chose to rescue Murasaki Edoyama, earning Kobushi’s reluctant admiration. Despite her association with the gang, Kobushi secretly aided Rinka by revealing the location where Murasaki was being held, indicating her disinterest in remaining a part of the criminal organization. In an act of defiance, she stole the fragment from Minami and attempted to flee, but was intercepted by Kakunoshin. Just as she was about to be apprehended, Rindo Urushiba appeared and saved her, an act that deeply moved Kobushi. From that moment on, she developed a strong admiration for Rindo, bordering on adoration.

In the end, Minami and Kakunoshin successfully recovered the fragment, leaving Kobushi frustrated by her failure. Following the incident, she was given shelter at Cayce’s residence, where she gradually abandoned her criminal past. Over time, she developed a friendship with Rinka, her former rival. Encouraged by Rindo’s guidance, she began to reconsider her actions, and he ultimately advised her to leave behind her life as a thief.

Her unique blend of espionage and physical prowess makes her a dangerous and unpredictable adversary.

Rinka Urushiba
Once an opponent, Rinka eventually becomes one of her closest allies. Despite their past fights, Kobushi deeply respects Rinka’s strength and determination.

Whether seen as a former rogue, a skilled infiltrator, or an unpredictable fighter, Kobushi’s impact on the world of espers is undeniable.
