Appearance
As a fairy, King possesses a youthful, childlike appearance despite being over 1300 years old. He has short brown hair, large golden eyes, and usually wears a simple orange hoodie over his small and thin frame. Though small in stature, his appearance changes when he activates his true form as the Fairy King. When transformed, King’s hair becomes longer, and he gains fairy wings and a more mature and majestic look.
King often floats instead of walking, which is typical of fairies, and he relies on his Spirit Spear Chastiefol for both offense and defense, wielding it with skill and precision. When in battle or serious situations, his determined and regal presence as the Fairy King becomes much more apparent.
King, the Grizzly Sin of Wrath, soars through the skies wielding his formidable spear. His fierce determination and overwhelming power make him a force to be reckoned with, embodying the relentless pursuit of justice against those who threaten his loved ones.
Personality
King is initially portrayed as lazy and aloof, fitting the image of the Sin of Sloth. However, this trait stems from his feelings of guilt and regret rather than actual laziness. After abandoning his duties as the Fairy King in the past, King became wracked with guilt for not protecting his people, leading to self-imposed isolation and a strong sense of responsibility. His guilt over failing to protect Elaine and the Fairy King’s Forest heavily influenced his early character arc, driving him to join the Seven Deadly Sins.
Despite his guilt-ridden nature, King is a gentle and caring individual, especially when it comes to Diane and Elaine. He has a deep sense of loyalty to his comrades in the Sins and is willing to put his life on the line to protect them. His love for Diane is one of his most defining traits, and their relationship grows stronger as the series progresses. King can be shy and awkward in expressing his feelings, but his genuine affection for Diane is evident throughout the story.
Over time, King matures into a wise and compassionate leader, fully embracing his role as the Fairy King and protector of his people.
Powers and Abilities
Sin: Sloth In his transformed state, King embodies Sloth, appearing larger and more relaxed. This form reflects a more laid-back approach, showcasing his struggle between responsibility and indulgence.
Disaster
King’s inherent magical ability, Disaster, allows him to manipulate the severity of any natural occurrence. He can control the flow of nature, enhancing small wounds into fatal injuries or influencing environmental factors to his advantage. This ability makes him extremely dangerous in battle, as he can intensify the damage of any attack or manipulate the battlefield itself.
Spirit Spear Chastiefol
Spirit Spear Chastiefol
King’s Sacred Treasure, the Spirit Spear Chastiefol, is made from the Sacred Tree of the Fairy King’s Forest. Chastiefol has multiple forms, each with unique abilities that King can switch between during battle:
- Form One: Chastiefol– The standard spear form, capable of delivering powerful attacks.
- Form Two: Guardian– A giant bear made of Chastiefol that acts as a protective shield.
- Form Three: Fossilization– The spear can turn objects or opponents into stone.
- Form Four: Sunflower– A massive flower that shoots powerful energy beams.
- Form Five: Increase– A form that divides Chastiefol into multiple smaller spears for rapid, widespread attacks.
- Form Six: Yggdra Armor– A defensive form that surrounds King with a protective suit of armor.
- Form Seven: Luminosity– A blinding light used to obscure the vision of enemies.
Flight
As a fairy, King has the ability to fly using his wings. Early in the series, King’s wings were underdeveloped, but as he matured into his role as the Fairy King, his wings fully manifested, granting him full flight capabilities.
Immense Magical Power
King is one of the strongest members of the Seven Deadly Sins, with his magical power rivaling that of the strongest warriors in Britannia. His command over Disaster and his skill with Chastiefol make him a formidable opponent in battle.
Legacy
King’s journey from guilt-ridden exile to the rightful Fairy King is one of the most emotional arcs in The Seven Deadly Sins. His growth as a character, both in terms of power and emotional maturity, showcases his transformation from a reluctant warrior to a proud leader of the Fairy Clan. His marriage to Diane not only symbolizes the unity of two powerful clans but also the culmination of a deep, heartfelt love that spans centuries. Together, King and Diane bring a new era of peace and prosperity to Britannia, solidifying King’s legacy as one of the most powerful and respected figures in the world of Nanatsu no Taizai.
Relationships
Diane
King has been in love with Diane for centuries, although it took him a long time to express his feelings openly. Their relationship is one of the most important in the series, evolving from close friends to lovers and eventually leading to their marriage. King’s love for Diane is pure and unwavering, and he frequently puts her well-being above his own. Their union brings peace between the Fairy and Giant Clans, symbolizing a new era of cooperation.
Elaine
King’s younger sister, Elaine, is one of the most important people in his life. He carries deep guilt for failing to protect her from death, which heavily influenced his character arc. After Elaine’s resurrection, King is overjoyed to be reunited with her and becomes very protective of her. Their sibling bond is strong, and Elaine is one of King’s primary sources of motivation.
Ban
Despite initially clashing with Ban over his relationship with Elaine, King and Ban eventually become close friends. Their bond deepens as they fight alongside each other, with King coming to respect Ban’s loyalty and strength. The two share a brotherly camaraderie, and King is grateful to Ban for loving and protecting Elaine.
