Khrome Ryugu

Khrome Ryugu, known as Kuromu Ryugu (龍宮クロム, Ryūgū Kuromu; Ryugu Kuromu) in Japan, is the main antagonist of the first season of the Beyblade X anime and manga series. Khrome competes using his signature Drake Beyblades and Cobalt Dragoon 2-60C, showcasing his formidable skills as a Blader.

In certain instances, Khrome temporarily adopts the alter ego Blader Y or Kamen Y (仮面Y, Kamen Wai; Mask Y), utilizing replicas of Sword Dran 3-60F and Dagger Dran 4-60R, which he purchases from a shop.

Khrome as Blader Y

Khrome Ryugu is a tall young man with a striking appearance, featuring blonde and bright green hair styled to resemble a dragon’s claw, complemented by turquoise eyes. He has two long locks of hair adorned with a metal ornament shaped like a dragon. Interestingly, this ornament is a souvenir keychain originally intended to attach to a pen, given to Jaxon Cross by the company’s president, which Jaxon later affixed to Khrome’s hair.

Khrome’s typical attire includes a turquoise changshan shirt, a black leather jacket with cuffed sleeves, and black fingerless gloves featuring light blue stripes on the cuffs and finger borders. He wears a red belt tied around his waist, lime green pants with dark azure designs, black-gray leggings underneath, and black sneakers with light blue soles. After obtaining Impact Drake, the sclera of Khrome’s eyes turned black, enhancing his intimidating presence.

As Blader Y, Khrome’s outfit transforms into a distinctive disguise. He dons a blue mask with a black lens featuring a gear-shaped pattern and a lime green “Y” at its center. The mask also has three claw-like extensions, each bearing a lime green “Y.” His attire includes a light blue hoodie with a red stripe, a jacket with a zipper shaped like a “Y,” and a black turtleneck underneath. He pairs this with blue jeans, black sneakers with gray soles, and a gray, black, and blue backpack adorned with a lime green “Y.”

Personality

Khrome Ryugu initially presented himself as a calm and respectful Blader, demonstrating poise and focus in his battles. However, his demeanor shifted after his defeat at the hands of Jaxon Cross. This loss sparked an intense obsession with Jaxon, which only deepened when Jaxon departed to climb the X Tower with the promise of facing Khrome again. Khrome’s fixation on defeating Jaxon became a driving force behind his actions, fueling his determination and shaping his identity as a rival and antagonist.

Background

Khrome Ryugu is a member of the three-person team Pendragon, the reigning champion team in the Beyblade X Pro League. During a decisive match at the top of The X, Khrome borrowed Sword Dran 3-60F from his teammate, Jaxon Cross, solidifying their shared history and the rivalry that would later define Khrome’s journey.

  • Sword Dran 3-60F: Originally borrowed by Khrome from his teammate Jaxon Cross during their time in Pendragon. After Jaxon’s departure from the team, Khrome later purchased a replica of Sword Dran to use as Blader Y.
  • Dagger Dran 4-60R: A replica Beyblade bought by Khrome after adopting the identity of Blader Y.
  • Impact Drake 9-60LR: Khrome’s Unique Line Beyblade in Beyblade X. It was offered to him by Omega Shiroboshi of BEYSA.
  • Relationships

    Jaxon Cross
Jaxon is Khrome’s former teammate in Pendragon before Jaxon left the team to reclimb The X with the intention of challenging Khrome at the summit. Their shared history has fueled a deep rivalry between the two.

    Sigrid Nana-iro
Sigrid is Khrome’s current teammate in Pendragon, contributing her skills and strategies to maintain the team’s champion status.

    Ciel Kaminari
Ciel is another of Khrome’s teammates in Pendragon, completing the trio that dominates the Beyblade X Pro League.

    Special Moves

    Xtreme Dash:
This move utilizes the gears on the Beyblade’s “Bit” interacting with the gears on the “X-Celerator Rail” (or “Xtreme Line”) of the Xtreme Stadium, significantly increasing the Beyblade’s speed.

    Xtreme Dash Infinite:
A more advanced version of the standard Xtreme Dash, this move allows the Beyblade to continuously interact with the gears on the X-Celerator Rail, repeatedly increasing its speed.

  • Cobalt Dragoon’s Xtreme Dash Infinite – Dragonic Break: This variant enhances the move by incorporating the “Dragonic Break” suffix, symbolizing the Beyblade’s amplified power and speed.
  • Xtreme Dash Dragonic Break:
This technique involves the Beyblade riding the entire X-Celerator Rail twice. During the first rotation, the Beyblade jumps into the air before landing back onto the rail for a second rotation. This move requires both high launch power and precise timing, making it a devastating attack when executed correctly.

    Trivia

      • Khrome is the first character in the series to use three types of launchers: the Winder Launcher, String Launcher, and String Launcher L.
      • Prior to Khrome’s identity as Blader Y being revealed in XYZ, both his Japanese and English voice actors were credited as “???” in the end credits to maintain the mystery.
