Itsuki Sumeragi

Kirari Momobami (桃喰 綺羅莉) serves as a prominent antagonist in both Kakegurui – Compulsive Gambler and Kakegurui Twin. She holds the esteemed title of the 105th Student Council President at Hyakkaou Private Academy, where she is portrayed as an overwhelmingly formidable figure within the institution. Kirari is credited with establishing the current system of gambling that governs the academy, a system that places immense value on high-stakes games and manipulation.

In addition to her role at the academy, Kirari leads the influential Momobami clan, a powerful consortium made up of various wealthy families. This clan operates in conjunction with Yumeko Jabami’s family, creating a complex web of alliances and rivalries that are pivotal to the series’ narrative. Kirari’s character is marked by her cold, calculating demeanor and her strategic prowess in the high-stakes world of gambling, making her one of the most feared individuals in the series.

Appearance

Itsuki’s full appearance.

Itsuki is characterized by her chin-length blonde hair, which she styles with bangs swept to the right, just grazing her eyebrows. She accessorizes her hair with a green hairband. Her striking blue eyes add to her overall appearance, and she often sports pink-painted nails adorned with star-like decorations. In the manga, her nails are specifically decorated with the suit of clubs; however, following a tense gamble against Kaede Manyuda, she is seen with bandages wrapped around her bloody fingers, a result of having ripped her nails out during the high-stakes match.

Itsuki dons the standard uniform of Hyakkaou Private Academy, which consists of a red blazer trimmed in black at the cuffs and collar, embellished with gold buttons. Underneath, she wears a crisp white button-up shirt paired with a black tie. Completing her ensemble is a pleated skirt, black stockings adorned with silver stars along the sides, and a pair of brown loafers with black soles, all of which contribute to her stylish yet edgy look.

Itsuki expressing a desire for Yumeko Jabami’s nails.

Itsuki utilizes her exceptional gambling skills and immense wealth to achieve her desires, whether that means securing a seat on the student council or indulging in her obsession with painted human nails. She is both manipulative and business-savvy, often incorporating her own products into her gambling activities to promote them effectively.

When she is first introduced, Itsuki appears friendly and welcoming; however, this facade quickly gives way to a more twisted and sadistic side. She shows no qualms about cheating or inflicting pain on others, particularly when it comes to collecting their nails—a macabre hobby that seems to excite her. Despite her cunning demeanor, she possesses a cowardly streak; she drops her manipulative facade when she herself is threatened. Beneath her bravado lies insecurity, and she feels worthless without a high rank or power.

After being expelled from the Student Council, Itsuki feigns kindness, primarily intending to manipulate Yumeko for her own gain. However, her time spent with Yumeko, especially during the Choice Poker game, teaches her the value of taking real risks and embracing bravery. This experience leads to her personal growth, and she gradually becomes a more compassionate person and forms a genuine friendship with Yumeko. Additionally, her feelings for Kaede play a crucial role in her development, as they help her learn to care more for others and recognize that money and power are not the sole measures of worth in life. Her desire for Kaede’s attention was a significant factor in her determination to remain on the council.
