Despite her flamboyant gyaru appearance, she is known for her warm and caring personality. She genuinely looks out for both Akane and Saito, acting as a mediator in their disputes and offering support when needed. Her outwardly stylish and bold demeanor contrasts with her compassionate nature, making her a well-rounded and approachable figure within the class.
Appearance
Himari Ishikura is a beautiful young woman with a distinctive gyaru fashion sense, characterized by her curvy, voluptuous figure and bold styling choices. She has long blonde hair, which she typically ties back into a ponytail. Her school uniform is modified to reflect her fashion preferences, she wears only her white shirt, leaving the top three buttons undone to reveal part of her cleavage and bust.
Additionally, like many gyaru, she has shortened her skirt, further embracing the rebellious and trendy aesthetic associated with the style.
Personality
Himari Ishikura is a flamboyant and friendly individual who maintains a cheerful and approachable attitude. Despite her bold gyaru appearance, she possesses a kind-hearted and empathetic nature, often acting as a peacemaker within her class. She strongly dislikes conflict and frequently steps in to dissuade Akane from bullying Saito, attempting to mediate their disputes and maintain harmony among her classmates. Her ability to balance her outgoing personality with her genuine concern for others makes her a compassionate and well-liked figure in the group.
Background
Himari Ishikura was once a shy and reserved girl who frequently faced bullying at school due to her natural hair color. Her struggles extended beyond her appearance, as she was also ridiculed for her love of reading, making her an easy target for torment.
One day, during an incident where Himari was being bullied over her interest in books, Akane Sakuramori stepped in to defend her. Akane’s intervention marked a turning point in Himari’s life, giving her the confidence to express herself more freely. From that moment on, Himari and Akane developed a close friendship, with Himari remaining loyal and appreciative toward Akane for standing up for her in a time of need. Over time, Himari embraced a gyaru fashion style, adopting a more flamboyant and confident persona while retaining her warm and caring nature.
Relationships
Saito Houjou
Saito is both Himari’s friend and unrequited love interest. She cares deeply for him and frequently intervenes to stop Akane from engaging in unnecessary conflicts with him. Himari’s feelings for Saito developed when she realized that, like her, he was lonely, and she desperately wanted to fill the emptiness in his heart. However, after discovering that Saito had married Akane, she became determined to break them apart in hopes of winning his love.
Himari strongly believes that Saito and Akane’s marriage is doomed to fail, convinced that they will only make each other miserable. Her determination to separate them grows even stronger after Saito helps her resolve her family issues, further deepening her emotional attachment to him. By Volume 9, after several failed attempts to win his affection, Himari resorts to forcing a kiss on Saito, hoping that he would never forget her and feel guilty whenever he stayed close to Akane.
In the epilogue, during Saito and Akane’s wedding, Maho jokingly suggests that Saito form a harem, as none of the girls are willing to give up on him. Himari supports the idea, even telling Saito that if he ever grows tired of Akane, he could always have “fun” with her instead.
Akane Sakuramori
Himari is Akane’s best friend, and despite their differences, she genuinely cares for her. However, she dislikes having to constantly scold Akane for picking fights with Saito. Their friendship dates back to elementary school, and for most of their lives, they have never had a serious dispute.
Their relationship drastically changes after Himari discovers Akane and Saito’s marriage, leading to jealousy and resentment. No longer able to contain her feelings, Himari actively seeks ways to separate them in hopes of making Saito fall for her instead. Initially, they try to reconcile and even discuss the idea of sharing Saito, but as time passes, Himari’s jealousy intensifies, and their friendship deteriorates into a love rivalry.
By Volume 9, Himari finally gives up on pursuing Saito’s heart, acknowledging that he belongs to Akane now. However, she warns Akane that if anything happens to him, she will not forgive her easily and may still attempt to break their marriage.
Himari’s Parents
Himari deeply loved her mother, who passed away ten years ago, and continues to cherish her memory. However, after her mother’s death, her relationship with her father deteriorated. He moved on quickly and married another woman without Himari’s consent, which left her feeling betrayed and lonely. As a result, she rarely interacts with her father and has even considered running away from home.
Despite her inner turmoil, Himari pretends to get along with her father and stepmother, Rieko, to avoid causing conflicts. She suppresses her true feelings, unwilling to disrupt her father’s new marriage, but internally, she still struggles to accept his decision.
Rieko Ishikura
Rieko is Himari’s stepmother, though their relationship is distant and strained. While Himari does not outright hate Rieko, she deeply resents her for taking her father’s attention away from her late mother. She harbors bitterness over the fact that her father never visits her mother’s grave, further fueling her dislike for Rieko. Because of this, Himari almost never interacts with her stepmother.
After Saito helps her resolve her family issues, Himari finally initiates a conversation with Rieko for the first time, even addressing her as her stepmother a significant step toward reconciliation.
Reiko Houjou
Reiko is Shisei Houjou’s mother, and her first interaction with Himari is marked by disdain and dismissal. She coldly tells Himari that she will never have a chance to become Saito’s lover, a statement that terrifies her and reinforces her sense of rejection.
