Heiter (ハイター, Haitā) was the alcohol-loving priest of the Hero Party. After the dissolution of the Hero Party, he returned to the Holy City of Strahl and eventually rose to the position of bishop. Despite his love for alcohol, Heiter enjoyed excellent health, allowing him to live a remarkably long life by human standards.
In his later years, Heiter adopted the orphan Fern and raised her as his own. When Frieren visited him twenty years after Himmel’s death, Heiter asked her to adopt Fern and train her as her apprentice.

Appearance
Heiter was a tall, bespectacled priest with short green hair that he kept slicked back, with two strands left loose over his forehead. Like most priests, he carried a book of scriptures and wore a long black robe adorned with gold trims and accents. Underneath his robe, Heiter wore a black shirt with a white top and gold accents, a gold belt, and a black-and-gold collar, paired with black pants and shoes.
When Heiter became a bishop, his attire changed to a white robe with a shoulder cape and collar featuring prominent gold accents on the edges and cuffs. He wore a white dress underneath, reaching his ankles and tied with the same gold belt, alongside white pants and black shoes.
As he grew older and retired, Heiter’s hair lightened, and his face became lined with prominent wrinkles. He wore a long gray turtlenecked dress, his gold belt, and a long cape clasped at the front. With a hunched back, he used a wooden walking stick to assist his mobility. When bedridden, he wore a simple nightgown.

Personality
Heiter was outwardly a cheerful and easygoing man, often defusing tense situations with laughter and jokes about his fondness for alcohol. He was easily moved to tears, whether due to events affecting the party or from the aftermath of a hangover. However, beneath this jovial exterior, Heiter was cynical about circumstances such as the Hero Party’s chances of defeating the Demon King. As a child, this cynicism manifested in jealousy towards Himmel, with Heiter often voicing his doubts about their ability to defeat monsters or, ultimately, the Demon King. Despite this, he eventually decided that even if he couldn’t believe in himself, he would choose to believe in Himmel—and later, in their comrades.
From a young age, Heiter was deeply pious, holding strong reverence for Heaven and the Goddess of Creation, as noted by Himmel.
Heiter was known to be a frequent liar, and while he often hid behind humor and charm, he was also shown to be shrewd. For instance, he was able to manipulate Frieren’s perception of time to convince her to stay and train Fern long enough for her to become a mage capable of traveling with Frieren.
Abilities
Mana Detection: Heiter had the ability to accurately gauge the mana of other mages. When he first met Frieren, he estimated that her mana was around a fifth of his own. He was also able to detect that Frieren was restraining her mana, a feat even the Sage of Destruction, Aura the Guillotine, could not accomplish. He later used this knowledge of mana restraint to help raise Fern as a mage.
Immense Mana: Heiter’s mana pool was vast. He estimated that Frieren, despite restraining her mana, had about a fifth of his own mana. According to Aura, Frieren’s mana had not significantly changed since her time with the Hero Party, suggesting that her restrained mana reflected approximately 100 years of training. This means that Heiter, as a young adult, possessed mana equivalent to about 500 years of training.
Curse Resistance: As a priest, Heiter possessed resistance to curses, a blessing known as “the Blessing of the Goddess” or “the Goddess’s Divine Grace.” This ability was showcased when Grausam used his curse on Himmel, Frieren, and Heiter. While Himmel and Frieren were incapacitated, Heiter only staggered momentarily before recovering.
Goddess’s Magic: As a priest, Heiter was capable of utilizing the magic of the Goddess, drawn from sacred scriptures.
Healing Magic: Heiter was able to heal wounds using the scriptures, showcasing his proficiency with restorative magic.
Three Spears of the Goddess: Heiter learned this powerful spell before setting out on his journey with Himmel. He could control the direction of each of the three spears, making it a versatile and formidable attack.
Survival Spell (No Need for Nutriment or Oxygen): Heiter knew a supportive spell that allowed its target to survive without food, water, or oxygen. He was capable of maintaining this spell for up to two months.
Mana Detection Concealment: Heiter could cast a stealth spell that prevented others from detecting his mana. This spell created a circle around him, making it impossible for those affected to be perceived by mana detection.
