Hanako Koyanagi

Hanako Koyanagi (小柳 花子 Koyanagi Hanako), later Hanako Kabakura (樺倉 花子, Kabakura Hanako) in Vol.9 Ch.65.3, is the bespectacled senpai of Narumi Momose at the office and the wife of Tarō Kabakura who loves playing games and reads yaoi manga, but she is also secretly a famous cosplayer that usually cosplays as a male character.

Along with Narumi, Hanako also works at an unknown company with Kabakura and Hirotaka Nifuji.

Appearance

Hanako is an attractive, fair-skinned young woman with shoulder-length dark green hair. She often ties her hair up in a small ponytail using a lime tie, with longer strands hanging down and bangs swept to the left. She has thin purple eyes, thin eyebrows, and a feminine figure characterized by wide hips and large breasts.

Work

At work, Hanako wears a gray blazer over a mint green blouse, accessorized with a flower necklace. She pairs this with black stockings, a pencil skirt, and black heels. Hanako is always seen wearing a pair of oval-shaped glasses, and her nails are painted light green, complementing her outfit.

Home

At home, Hanako either leaves her hair down or ties it up in a bun for a more relaxed look. Her casual clothes consist of a purple t-shirt with white stripes and gray sweatpants, offering a more comfortable style when not at work.Hanako is an attractive, fair-skinned young woman with shoulder-length dark green hair. Personality

Hanako is often portrayed as a professional, strict, and hardworking woman who is admired by her male co-workers for her competence. According to her husband, Tarō Kabakura, she is also short-tempered, panicky, and easily drawn to perverted jokes. She tends to be easily influenced by others, a trait that Kabakura has pointed out. Despite her no-nonsense exterior, Hanako is considered to be very cool by Narumi Momose.

Hanako can be quite jealous of Kabakura’s waifus, and she often becomes upset when he talks about his “fatherly love” for Narumi. Although she is aware that she differs from his usual type, she has grown accustomed to it over time. She frequently worries about their constant arguments and fears that Kabakura will eventually grow tired of her.

A passionate cosplayer, Hanako enjoys purchasing magazines related to the hobby. Her cosplays are typically of bishounen characters, and both Kabakura and Hirotaka Nifuji jokingly remark that she would make a great man due to her ability to pull off these roles so well.

It is possible that Hanako was influenced by Kabakura into watching anime, as she was not initially an otaku back in high school.

History

Hanako’s relationship with Tarō Kabakura began at their high school graduation, although they both claim that the other confessed first, leading to many playful arguments over the years.

Both Kabakura and Hanako were captains of their respective volleyball teams in high school, and they were constantly at odds over who would get to use the volleyball court. Typically, the boys’ team would use the court, as they were often the winning team. Hanako was appointed captain of the girls’ team, despite being only a second-year student, due to a shortage of members. As captain, she was responsible for keeping the team together and ensuring they practiced hard.

In a bid to secure court time for the girls’ volleyball team, Hanako threatened Kabakura by threatening to expose a picture of him reading manga, a picture that she kept a backup copy of on her computer. Faced with this ultimatum, Kabakura reluctantly agreed to lend the court to the girls’ team.

One night, while Hanako was practicing her serves, Kabakura noticed her effort and decided to teach her how to properly perform a jump serve. Afterward, Hanako, impressed by his skill, eagerly asked him to show her another.

Relationships

Tarō Kabakura
Hanako has been in a relationship with Tarō Kabakura since high school. However, neither of them can recall who confessed first, which often leads to playful arguments. Although they argue frequently, Hanako sometimes feels like Kabakura might just be settling for her. Despite this, they both care for each other deeply. Hanako enjoys teasing Kabakura, having once made him cosplay as a woman, and she also has fun with her co-worker and friend Narumi Momose by attempting to take pictures of Hirotaka Nifuji and Kabakura posing like characters from BL manga.

In Vol. 9, Ch. 65.3, Hanako and Tarō get married, making her Hanako Kabakura (樺倉 花子). In Vol. 11, Ch. 86, Hanako reveals that she is pregnant, causing Tarō to hug her and cry. The “Afterward” section at the end of Chapter 86 predicts that the couple will have a daughter, with an accompanying illustration showing Hanako cosplaying with her daughter.

Narumi Momose
Narumi is one of Hanako’s close friends, and they met at work. The two soon realized they knew each other from Hanako’s popularity as a cosplayer and Narumi’s romance BL manga. Narumi enjoys spending time with Hanako, as she has never had a female otaku friend before. The two often debate over which character is “top” in their favorite ships, further strengthening their bond.

Hirotaka Nifuji
Hanako and Hirotaka share a friendly relationship and frequently go out for drinks with their co-workers, Tarō Kabakura and Narumi Momose. They become closer after Hanako gives Hirotaka advice on a horror ride in Episode 9. After Hirotaka thanks her and they part ways, Hanako comments, “He’s started to act more like a human these days… He’s gotten cuter…”
