Personality

Gonzou is a selfish, brutish, and ruthless man who created a toxic work environment at Akira’s company, where exploitation and dehumanization were commonplace. He was deeply abusive, using psychological and emotional manipulation to belittle employees and make them obedient and dependent on him. Gonzou constantly yelled at staff over nearly every action, often contradicting himself, insulting them for asking questions while also complaining when they took initiative without consulting him. When employees eventually quit, he would mock them behind their backs, deriding their perceived lack of fortitude.

History

Gonzou was the team leader of a black company before the outbreak. At first, he appeared friendly to Akira, trying to gain his trust, but once he succeeded, he revealed his true nature. He worked his employees to exhaustion until the zombie outbreak occurred.

After surviving, Gonzou formed a group that set traps to cause other survivors to crash, offering them shelter and medical aid in exchange for labor. This tactic ensnared Akira’s group, leading to Kenichirou sustaining a serious injury while riding a motorcycle without a helmet. Akira initially resisted working for Gonzou, but agreed to help Kenichirou. Gonzou then manipulated Akira, making him feel incapable of living without his support and forcing him to work relentlessly. Even after Kenichirou recovered, Gonzou refused to release Akira. However, Shizuka reminded Akira of his Bucket List, which included “Tell off my jerk of a boss,” prompting Akira to confront Gonzou. When Gonzou struck Shizuka and threatened his Bucket List, Akira came to his senses, declaring he would rather die in the zombie world than stay another moment with Gonzou.

Chaos ensued when a supply truck arrived and the drivers were attacked by hidden zombies. Gonzou, being overweight and out of shape, could not outrun them. Akira saved him, and with the combined efforts of the other survivors, the zombies were trapped and destroyed. Afterward, Akira and Gonzou’s team said their goodbyes, leaving Gonzou alone, defeated and abandoned.

Abilities

Gonzou was the boss of the department where Akira worked, giving him authority over his employees. He routinely used psychological and emotional abuse to destroy their self-esteem, making them servile and dependent on him. Through insults, disparagement, and leveraging the company’s position in the industry, he guilt-tripped employees into staying, claiming that leaving would burden their coworkers with extra labor. This created a toxic environment where workers felt trapped, aware they were harming themselves, yet unable to escape or find alternative employment.

Gonzou employed the same abusive tactics during the zombie apocalypse, leading a group of survivors while mistreating them. However, his actual abilities were minimal, he was unwilling and unable to do even mundane tasks, forcing others to handle all the work. When zombies infiltrated his compound, he could do nothing but run for his life and had to be rescued by Akira due to his poor physical condition. Lacking leadership skills or empathy, Gonzou ultimately caused all his subordinates to abandon him, leaving him alone, resource-less, and pitifully begging for help.
