Appearance

Fuu is a gentle-looking girl with chin-length sandy blond hair, short bangs framing her face, green eyes, and round glasses that give her a calm and intelligent appearance. Her composed demeanor is often reflected in her graceful and thoughtful expression, hinting at her analytical and kind nature.

She wears three main outfits throughout the series. Her school uniform consists of a green jacket with a white collar, a green skirt, a white petticoat, a small red bow, and a matching headband. Fuu casting spell

Fuu is always seen with a gentle smile and carries herself with calmness and politeness, though she can be surprisingly blunt at times. Her background in her school’s archery club makes her skilled with a bow and arrow, which becomes her first weapon as a Magic Knight. Later, she acquires a large sword made from Escudo, a powerful weapon that becomes impossibly heavy for anyone other than her to lift. Her composed nature, combined with her precision and focus, makes her both a reliable teammate and a formidable fighter.

One of Fuu’s greatest strengths lies in her intelligence and ability to strategize logically under pressure. From the very beginning, she remains level-headed and thoughtful, choosing to assess situations carefully rather than panic. She has strong morals and a deep curiosity, as shown when she hesitates to intrude upon Presea’s home but eagerly observes her surroundings once inside. Her intelligence leans more toward “book smarts” than “street smarts,” and her tendency to state the obvious often amuses or frustrates Umi. Despite moments of self-doubt, Fuu’s faith in herself, her friends, and their shared mission helps her stay strong. She shares a deep bond with Ferio, the estranged brother of Princess Emeraude, and their relationship grows closer as the story progresses. Even after learning of the painful truth about his sister, Ferio’s affection for her remains unchanged. In the anime’s second season, Fuu showcases her skill by winning an archery contest against Lady Aska, after which the two become good friends.

Abilities and Skills

  • “Winds of Healing” (Iyashi no Kaze): A healing spell. Fuu covers her target with soothing winds, healing them.
  • “Emerald Typhoon” (Green Whirlwind) (Midori no Shippu): Fuu’s first and most used attack spell. She sends out a strong gust of wind towards the enemy.
  • “Winds of Admonishment” (Imashime no Kaze): Fuu covers her enemies within winds and immobilized them.
  • “Winds of Protection” (Mamori no Kaze): Fuu protects herself and her allies with a barrier of wind.
  • “Emerald Cyclone” (Midori no Zenpuu): This spell was made in the anime only. Basically, it’s Fuu’s strongest attack spell which spends out simultaneous gusts of wind that seem as sharp as blades.

Trivia

    • Fuu has different names in different languages:
      • In the Italian and Filipino dub of the anime, Fuu is called "Anemone".
        • Anemone is a plant of the buttercup family, typically bearing brightly colored flowers. Anemones are widely distributed in the wild, and several kinds are popular garden plants. This is appropriate because the genus is also known by the common name of windflower.
      • In the Brazilian version, she's named "Anne".
      • Her name in Spanish Dub is "Anais".
    • Fuu is notably the only Magic Knight whose hair and eyes do not share the same color base.
    • Fuu is in the Archery club. At the beginning of her journey, she used a bow and arrow she borrowed from Presea to defeat her enemies. However, once she received her sword, she never used her bow and arrow anymore.
      • Despite being in the Archery Club and having much less sword experience than the other two girls, she seems to have no problem adapting to using a large Claymore-like sword. This may be because of her connection to the sword (due to the Escudo) or it may just be another sign of how intelligent and quick thinking she is.
      • In one episode of the anime, she does use archery again, when she and Lady Aska of Fahren had their match.
    • Fuu's sword is the largest in the manga, easily matching the height of Guru Clef's staff, but in the anime, it is slightly shorter, only at Fuu's height, it is also ironic how Fuu should have the largest sword, considering her element.
    • One of the series' running gags is that Fuu is prone to stating the obvious, which sometimes irritates Umi Ryuuzaki.
    • Fuu likes playing RPG games. She often compared the journey in the first season with RPG elements such as fighting monsters, gaining experience points and finding treasures.
    • The wind/air color is yellow in most media. However, Fuu's color is green, the color of Earth element.
    • Fuu's Rune God was located in the Sky Shrine, which appears as a floating mountain-shaped crystal in the sky.
    • Fuu once persuaded Umi to eat Mokona.
    • In Chapter 222 of TSUBASA RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE, Fuu, Hikaru, and Umi appear as the classmates of a reborn Clone Sakura. It is unknown if these are the same Fuu, Hikaru, and Umi or alternate versions from a different world.
    • Although Fuu's element is wind/air, she was born under Sagittarius, which itself is a sign of fire. The sign does, however, lend into her archery.
    • In the Sega Saturn game, Fuu can't swim, requiring a life preserver every time she is in water.
